I still have no issue with what Ireland asked Dez. Teams have a right to know about the inner circle of the prospects.

you guys have ZERO imagination...if I asked you those questions, you would make my point for me...the point of asking something different is to catch them off-guard so they will answer what they think...you have to differentiate one candidate from the other...so, if the standard questions have candidates pretty equal on your ledger, do you want a guy that is blah, or do you want guy that is a thinking and has some imagination?
anyway, God forbid I answer this thread question and all of your perfect questions don't get asked....oh wait, those of you complaining haven't given any questions, that's right...

I'd have amazing answers for you. I'd walk out of the interview in your high esteem. I'd walk out of the interview hoping you're not representative of the entire firm. I work at one of the most prestigious companies on Earth. I interview people for summer associate positions. We don't ask these clown questions.
'Is your Mother really a *****?' or words to that effect is ok with you? That's an insane comment welcoming some to beat the crap out you.
"Dez, we know you've had difficult circumstances growing up. How do you think that will affect your ability to transition to the NFL? What can we do for you to make things easier for you?"
Now that's one way to offer a respectful, open ended, and thoughtful dialogue for him to respond to.
"Is your Mother really a *****?" would be an inappropriate way to phrase the question. I don't believe it was asked that way.
I think when you have two adults in the room and you understand the situation, it's not inappropriate to ask whether working for his "pimp" father meant she was a prostitute.
I believe I was clear about saying or words to that effect. Just what do you think it means to ask a child if his mother works for a pimp be it his father or not? My guess is Dez was so shocked he didn't bend him into a pretzel. The more you try to defend your statement the more silly you are going to sound.
But be my guest!
Yeah, I took your response as childish. He didn't say "So is your mother a *****?" That would be disrespectful and inappropriate. He asked if she was a prostitute since Dez told him she worked for his "pimp" father.
I agree, a child would get offended. Someone immature who doesn't understand why this is being asked. This isn't done to demean anybody, but the team is about to make a long term investment in a player to the tune of millions of dollars. They're bringing this player into their locker room to rub elbows with their other players. They have every right to know the background of every prospect. Even when that background is unfortunate and not something you're proud of.
I don't care if YOU think I was childish. I'm pretty certain it didn't go down the exact way you're saying. And Ireland's beat down by just about everyone says a lot as does the responses of others here about your post. The fact you are clueless and socially unresponsive says a lot as well.
You can have the last retort.
Well, I can promise you it went down more my way than your "Hey, Dez...so is your mother really a *****?" description.
I actually saw a lot of support for Ireland over this. It's not his fault Dez's family has these issues. He shouldn't be concerned with the PC police and the professional victim mentality. He should be concerned about what kind of person he's bringing into his locker room. This is why those questions needed to be asked. You must know the background of these players.
