Excluding the Cowboys I would say the Cardinals Bears and Falcons all have excellent chances to make the playoffs this year. Falcons get Julio back and worked on their D. Bears will have Cutler back and their D is always good plus getting Tillman back, and the Cards made it to 10-6. They will also be in the mix.

I think the division is pretty pathetic, but the NFC seems like the superior conference, and I don't think it's all that close.

I think SEA, SF, and NO were all better teams than Denver last year. Much like in the early 90s, the real superbowl was the NFCCG.

But I think the biggest indicator is NE. NE made the conference championship, but I really believe the only playoff team they would've beaten last year from the NFC was GB... unless it was in GB.
SF can't throw the ball and NO had an absurdly easy schedule or probably wouldn't have made the playoffs at all. I don't think the AFC is really that strong either, so I don't necessarily want to compare the two.

The entire league is down. Seattle is probably the only complete team in the entire league. Let's not forget, NE got absolutely hammered by injuries on the defensive side of the ball last year.

I don't disagree with the bold part.

I disagree about NO though. They were the only team ranked in the top 5 in both offense and defense last year. The only other team that even ranked in the top 10 of both categories was Cincy (3-def, 10 off).

SF isn't a strong passing team, but they're probably the biggest collection of talent in the NFL.

The Saints defense was wildly overrated. They played like 2 good offenses all year.
