It’s an intriguing thought, David Irving playing in today’s playoff game.
The day before the Dallas Cowboys game against the Los Angeles Rams gave us some interesting bits of information concerning America’s Team.
Firstly, a report surfaced that David Irving had missed multiple drug tests over the last few months. That’s not ideal. Later in the evening, Jerry Jones was seeing socializing with all sorts of dignitaries in Hollywood on the eve of his team’s big game.
Friday night also saw another report surface concerning David Irving and Jerry Jones. Apparently, the latter lobbied the Cowboys coaches to play the former against the Rams this week. Yes, this week.
Two sources tell @NBCDFWSports that Jerry Jones lobbied the coaching staff hard to play DT David Irving 8-10 snaps this week even though he hasn’t practiced since Oct. Irving has been on the injury report with a sprained ankle since Week 8. He’s been ruled out for Saturday

It’s hard to know what “lobbied” means in this situation. Did Jerry simply want David Irving to play? That seems fair and actually logical. Who doesn’t want David Irving the football player to play for the Cowboys this weekend and in any possible game? Everybody does.
There will undoubtedly be those that see this and chirp that Jerry is trying to be too involved with the team. It’s worth noting, though, that however “hard” he did lobby that David Irving is not going to play for the Cowboys in Los Angeles. That’s all you need to know about who has the ultimate say in decisions like that.
It’s unfortunate that we haven’t been able to see David Irving play football all that much this season. That doesn’t change how much we want to see it, it’s totally fine to want things that are not going to happen.
