The Cowboys are always a popular destination, but do they have any real interest in Josh Gordon?

On Saturday, the Browns announced that the team will be parting ways with oft-suspended wide receiver, Josh Gordon. Reports circulated that the release has nothing to do with substance abuse, but rather that the team simply cannot trust Gordon.

The Browns plans to release Gordon on Monday, but there is a chance that a team can swoop in and trade for him before then.

Sunday, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Gordon is eyeing two NFL teams — one of which is the Dallas Cowboys.

As teams discuss potentially trading for outgoing #Browns WR Josh Gordon, I’m told he’s got his eye on two in particular: The #Cowboys and the #49ers.

Along with the 49ers, Gordon appears to be interested in joining the Dallas Cowboys. Does this mean that he has heard through the grapevine that these are two teams that are interested in making a move for him, or does he really just want an opportunity to wear the star and play for America’s Team?

The star wide receiver posted this message on Saturday following the news of his eventual release, asking does “anybody need a deep threat WR??”.

As any fan base does when a big-name player suddenly hits the market, the thought occurred of the former Baylor Bears receiver coming back to Texas and giving Dak Prescott a dynamic weapon to throw the ball to. On Saturday, though, reports stated that the Cowboys “have no interest”.

There is no denying that Josh Gordon is one of the elite on-field talents at the wide receiver position in the game of football; however, the reports of Dallas not having any interest are understandable given all of the question marks and concerns surrounding Gordon, from his history with substance abuse to the fact that the Browns feel like they cannot even trust him.

It is no secret that the Cowboys need a wide receiver to emerge as a go-to threat for Prescott in order to open up the offense and to get things rolling in the right direction. Gordon, a native of the Lone Star State and a Baylor product, drew lots of interest from the Cowboys leading up to the 2012 supplemental draft. He certainly has the raw talent to take an offense to the next level and he reportedly has interest in playing for the Cowboys, but this appears to be a long-shot as the Cowboys are reportedly not reciprocating the interest.
