I honestly think - if murray doesn't sign a reasonable contract and they let him walk. He probably think he can out play Randle in training camp and play for a contending team. The cowboys also have to feel good in the fact that even if Williams won the starting role and got injured Randle could step up and lead the rushing attack. We have too many people to sign and too many holes on defense to draft someone to play RB - so I do think he is in the cowboys back pocket for the future.

Then why expose him to other teams on the practice squad? And why is this story coming out now?

If you guys think Jerry is going to let Murray leave Valley Ranch and feature Ryan Williams next year...you guys are more nuttier than i thought!

If you think Jerry is going to pay Murray 9 million or anywhere around that. You can't even use being nuts as an excuse.

Interesting. I don't know how they could get him to turn down offers to join another team. They have the option to pay practice squad players more money, but he is listed at 107K against the cap.

It's a good bet Dallas agreed to pay Ryan Williams the third year veteran minimum to remain on the practice squad after other clubs began courting the running back.

I remember Dallas offered to do this with practice squad QB Rudy Carpenter in 2009. He opted to sign with Tampa Bay instead of making the rookie minimum to remain on the Cowboys' JV team.

The salary cap sites are making their best guesses in a lot of cases, they don't have access to the actual contract information.

Oh, the irony if Arizona was one of the teams that went after him.

he will pay the 9 million before starting Williams next year

I don't think so.

Maybe I'm giving the bat bleep lunatic too much credit but I do not believe we're going to pay Murray big money. He's a product of the offensive line. Whoever hands Murray that kind of contract will regret it.

If they are telling Williams Murray won't be back, what are they telling Murray?

There is no way you make promises of this nature to practice squad guys.

Most likely scenario is a team contacted him, his agent went to little Jerry, and they bumped his pay.
