if he was that good, he would have randle's spot. he isnt. and i wish people would quit thinking we are keeping a better player on the PS and letting a 2nd and 3rd stringer that are worse have actual playing time. thats ludicrous.

Give him time. I didn't think much of Randle but he has gotten pretty decent since...

There's actually zero proof in the article that 10 teams have tried to sign Williams.

They simply quote Babe Laufenberg (who cited no source) saying "roughly" 10 teams have wanted Williams.

Babe is the guy who said Romo's career was over.

Jus' sayin..

I don't think so.

Maybe I'm giving the bat bleep lunatic too much credit but I do not believe we're going to pay Murray big money. He's a product of the offensive line. Whoever hands Murray that kind of contract will regret it.

I think many backs could get 1000 yards behind this line. But what Murray is doing is special.

22 had some great lines as well but no one would suggest any RB would have played to his level

Actuallly Randle's running ability is also a factor in him being 2nd string also.

Without question.

There is a night and day difference in how Joseph Randle looks carrying the football this year compared to last.

Or may he just is that smart. Maybe those were horrible teams making those offers. And he knows there is a possibility Murray may not be here next year.

He knew this before he signed? That dog dont hunt.

He is a different kind of back than Randle/Dunbar, they provide a change of pace and different roles to Murray. If Murray leaves I can easily see Williams as part of a RBBC here, he's a bigger dude that can get the tougher yards, but Randle would be lead back with his home run ability.

That's crazy. Well he'll get a chance next year. Murray isnt going to be in dallas so we can see what hes got.

This simply isn't true. The running game has been dominant because of both Murray and the offensive line. Murray's patience and ability to fight through tackles adds to the running game's effectiveness. If you think the next running back is going to be as productive you're going to be sorely disappointed.

I mean the dude could break 2,000 yards. Saying it's all because of the offensive line is ludicrous.

he grew up a cowboys fan and appreciates the franchise for giving him an opportunity. if you hear his interviews, dude is salt of earth....really like his personality.

i am appreciative and all that jazz just the same, but if someone offered me the equivalent pay raise and said "we would like to have you for $250,000 a year and we're going to give you 4 titles up from your current title" then i will call the president of the company right now and say "welp, see ya"

When we had a garbage line, Murray was good.
Now we have a good line and Murray is still good.

With a straight face, I can't say he's simply a product of the line. Whether or not he's worth keeping is another question.

Murray was hardly the same player behind the garbage line.

He's a good RB made to look great this year by a great OL and a lot of touches. He is not a special player you build a team around.

The only reason I don't build around him is because of his injury history. That scares me the most. Other than that, he's proficient in all other areas. He's everything you want in a back, minus the home run ability.

You'd be crazy to build around a merely good RB who will enter his 30's under his next contract.

I agree he's an all around back but he's played out his value in Dallas. Now it's time for him to get paid after a career year he'll never again duplicate. I wouldn't even communicate with his agent about another deal.

I also don't expect Murray to be back but then we are not rolling with Williams as the starter but will sign someone like AP or draft someone high

JMO

i tend to agree but perhaps not.
dallas knows what he has and he knows what dallas is telling him.

if it makes little sense to us there is a great chance we don't have all the facts.

i can easily see them saying you'll be on the active roster next year as dunbar is a FA.
he also sees murray as likely to get bigger offers.

even if we do go rb in the draft not sure that player would come in day 1 and get heavy carries.
JG likes veteran guys on offense.

if you remove murray and dunbar from the team...

randle and williams are your backs. rw may well start as randle will have ST duty.
a 3rd guy is brought in from somewhere that can help on special teams.

RW's deal is pretty simple.. he is either a starter or hard to get on the roster because of lack of ST play.
that's why he was available, as much as his injuries.

If a healthy, non kid-swatting AP was playing for us this year he would have broken 2,000 already.

So yes, not anyone can come in and replace Murray but there are some potential "next running backs" who could do it even better behind this line.

That’s what baffles me. He had that homerun ability at OU. Maybe he gained too much weight in the pros?

Well the 49ers did draft and build around Frank Gore. That guy should have never lasted that long. My gut tells me it's a bad signing too, but if you can get him for 4 years in the 20 mill range, I'd do it.

NFL defenses are a tad faster. lol.
VERY few NFL RBs have home run ability versus NFL defenses.

But yes he has also gained some weight to withstand getting hit by these guys.
