After much speculation, it is being reported that Ezekiel Elliott will be playing for the Cowboys in Week 1 against the Giants.
The biggest story over the last month regarding the Dallas Cowboys has been the status of their star running back, Ezekiel Elliott.
Elliott was initially suspended by the NFL on August 11th for six games due to a violation of the league’s personal conduct policy. The suspension was appealed by Elliott, and while at this moment we do not know the results of said appeal, one thing is now being reported - Ezekiel Elliott will play for the Dallas Cowboys this Sunday when they host the New York Giants.
ALERT courtroom source to me: Judge Mazzant just askd #NFL if #EzekielElliott is onfield for #Cowboys this wk, even if HH rules. Answer: YES pic.twitter.com/oxp5J3xsDM

The translation of that tweet is that regardless of what Harold Henderson, who is hearing the Elliott appeal, rules in that matter, Ezekiel will be on the field for the first week of the season. This corresponds with the practice of not issuing, or in this case upholding, a suspension after 4 PM ET on a Tuesday during a game week.
We should caution that so far only Fisher is reporting this, and he gives himself some wiggle room.
Keeping in mind, of course, that THE NFL STILL DOES WHATEVER IT WANTS TO DO. #EzekielElliott https://t.co/7DiVQ3Xg0x

It remains to be seen whether or not Elliott’s suspension will be reduced, vacated or upheld. That decision could come on Wednesday, or some time after. Since it is now believed that Elliott will be playing in Week 1, any potential suspension would (as of now) begin in Week 2 when the Cowboys visit the Denver Broncos.
We’ll keep you updated here as this story continues to evolve.
