Both quarterback Tony Romo and wide receiver Terrance Williams turned in outstanding efforts on Sunday and as a result, each has been nominated for weekly honors. While both men would prefer a team victory to personal honors, each is deserving of the individual recognition that could come his way. Romo is up for the FedEx Air Player of the Week while Williams is under consideration to be the Pepsi Next NFL Rookie of the Week. Let's take a quick look back at what each did to earn a nomination.
Tony Romo was the reason that the Dallas Cowboys became the only team to threaten the Denver Broncos thus far in the 2013 season. On Sunday, Romo went toe-to-toe with Peyton Manning and posted a better statistical game. He passed for a franchise record 506 yards against the Broncos and tied his personal best mark of five touchdown passes. He is up against Peyton Manning and Drew Brees in the race to win this weeks honors. Fans can help Romo win the award by visiting the NFL FedEX Air and Ground Award page.
After a week four showing that brought him a lot of criticism, rookie Terrance Williams bounced back in a big way. The young receiver turned in his first triple digit receiving performance as he led all receivers with 151 yards on four receptions. He scored a touchdown and caught a pass for a two-point conversion. To win the award, Williams will have to beat out Eddie Lacy, Tyrann Mathieu, Zac Stacy, and Geno Smith for the honor. To vote for Williams, visit the Pepsi Next Rookie Of The Week site.
Both players turned in key performances that helped the Cowboys remain competitive with the Broncos, and each is deserving of joining DeMarco Murray, who was previously honored as the FedEx Ground Player of the Week after his week three production against the St. Louis Rams.
