A video that shows you all that is good about Cowboys star Ezekiel Elliott.
It was a little over a year ago when the Dallas Cowboys decided to use the fourth pick in the 2016 draft on running back Ezekiel Elliott. This went against the recent trend of not selecting running backs high in the first round. That position had been devalued and many pundits and experts thought the Cowboys made a mistake.
Internally among Cowboys fans, there was a great debate about the decision to take Zeke over cornerback Jalen Ramsey. While that debate may never go away, there is a feeling that the Cowboys certainly got the value they wanted out of that fourth overall pick, and more.
I bring all this up because my friend Brett Kollman, who writes for SB Nation, also produces a fantastic video series called The Film Room. This week, he tackles Ezekiel Elliott in an excellent episode of The Film Room.
It’s a must see for Cowboys fans. You should really indulge your senses and give it a viewing. Kollman blows up the myth that anybody could run for that many yards behind the Cowboys offensive line. He shows just why Elliott is so valuable, mainly that he does everything well, he is probably the most well-rounded back in the league right now. And he keeps coming back to one thing: Elliott craves contact, loves dishing out punishment, which in turn sets the tone for the Cowboys offense.
In the end, he says that Elliott was the right pick for the Cowboys because his presence is letting Dak Prescott develop the way that he is, and that is the most valuable thing he could do for Dallas.
