If you had money riding on the games last weekend, chances are you are not a happy camper right now. It's been a strange first three weeks for the NFL. Close games have been a staple of the 2012 NFL season:

  • Six of the 16 games in Week 3 were decided by seven points or fewer, bringing the season total to 28. That is the most through Week 3 in NFL history, two games ahead of the previous record from 1988.
  • Also in Week 3, four teams came back from fourth-quarter deficits to win, bringing the total for the season to 18 fourth-quarter comebacks, the second most through Week 3 of any season in NFL history, just one game behind the record set in 2011.

How are you supposed to pick winners in a league where games are this close? We try anyway. Below are all our picks for Week 4, 2014.

Here's an overview of the different team records possible after Week 4, and the historic chances of making the playoffs with each record. For the Cowboys, a win in San Diego would further improve their playoff odds - and with a likely Eagles loss in Denver, a win would give the Cowboys a nice early cushion in the NFC East.
