1089 isn't great. Over 75 percent of the starting backs in the league can get that behind this OL.

Gurley had more yards and TDs with a worst OL and terrible QB play and no true number 1 reciever. Mcfadden isn't, wasn't and will never be special in the NFL

Gurley had very comparable numbers in attempts, ypc, and total yards..also like you said with no good qb and teams stacking the box. Gurley is projected to be a superstar..maybe the best back in the league this year.

Not bad company for a "nobody" like McFadden, I'd say.

Was a rookie though. Not only that look at the TDs.....hint Mcfadden had 3

Like I said ... :D

I know it might be nuts, but I think I would rather keep Swanson as a returner (who shows a lot of explosiveness), and let Whitehead go.

IMO, Whitehead brings very little to WR, and I'd prefer keep a WR who can actually get open and catch on a more consistent basis.

I find the WR reverse, or fake reverse, with Whitehead to be a tired exercise.

How much can each of these RB''s contribute over the next four seasons?

The Cowboys arent making decisions based soley on this season. They have to look at the potential over the next several seasons.

McFaddenI on the downside of a RB career Jackson with the potential of constant improvement during the next 4 years.

But I dont know why conversation takes place. OBVIOUSLY, you keep both....along with Morris and Elliot.

For the next several weeks, possibly half a season, the Cowboys will run 35 or more times. You go Morris and Elliott combining each week for 25 and combine McFadden and Jackson to give 10 carries. The Cowboys need 4 RB's if they are going to run consistantly and edfectively.

There should be no doubt of the high probability that a few of these guys will get nicked up during the course of the season.

Darius Jackson is a workhorse. Eventually tired defenses are going to be burned bt his and the line's physicality.

Get used to the jet sweep, because you'll be seeing it all year. Lucky had 10 carries for 107 yards and 6 first downs last year. This preseason he had two carries -- for 11 and 7 yards. Without Romo, it'll be even more important to stretch defenses horizontally.

Lucky will stay this season. With a rookie QB, they'll likely run more gadget plays like the jet sweep; however, if Swanson puts pressure on him as a returner, Lucky's spot could be in trouble eventually.

Lucky did catch a few passes in the final game, but he didn't have many catches this preseason, IIRC, and he had some drops.

I'd keep him just on the PS. He's not special. I had hoped he was but he has limited vision and moves. We'll get to see more but I doubt he shows more than we've seen.

Limited vision and moves.........are those not the same reasons that the OLine had to be switched to Man blocking scheme for McFadden last year as he was struggling with Zone blocking scheme.....................I wonder if the young kid shows similar jump in yards under a man scheme also, where he is able to hit a prescribed hole and hit the gas.

no doubt...........neither are one-cut and go guys that fit our Zone scheme

I consider them both 'one cut' or not very elusive guys with some speed and power. Neither are special but are servicable

premedicated cutters ........run to a hole that is supposed to be there in a planned man blocking.............vrs via a intuitive plant the foot and cut into a hole a Zeke or Morris feel developing

I agree in general. I don't see that much difference in the three but Morris bit better overall. I still need to see more of EE.
