BUCS’ PHILLIPS OUT FOR SEASON, BROOKS HURT TOO

Posted by Michael David Smith on December 15, 2008, 1:01 p.m.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have lost one defensive starter for the season, and they’re concerned about the status of another.
PewterReport.com reports that Bucs coach Jon Gruden said today that strong safety Jermaine Phillips suffered a fractured forearm and is out for the season. Phillips started 11 games this season for the Bucs; the three he missed were for another forearm injury.
Gruden also said weakside linebacker Derrick Brooks suffered a rib injury on Sunday and is “very questionable” for Sunday’s game against the Chargers. Gruden described Brooks’ injury as “very concerning.”
Brooks has never missed a game in his 14-year NFL career.

Just something to watch for. Maybe TB starts falling.

Wow. Bad time for them to be losing two huge defensive contributors off a unit that is already being shredded on the ground.

Their next 2 games are @home against San Diego and Oakland.

They may not go far in the playoffs with a hobbled D, but they should beat those teams with their own PS.

San Diego I believe is still mathmatically in the playoff hunt so defeating them might not be as easy as Buccs fans would like. They should beat Oakland though.
