The two names you continue to hear in Dallas, should owner Jerry Jones make a change at the end of the season, are ex-Seattle coach Mike Holmgren and Mike Shanahan. Both are capable of fixing what's wrong with Tony Romo.

Too bad neither are capable of bringing a decent defensive coordinator with them.

Yeah, potentially a problem with either one.

Isnt it ironic. Jerry's last round of hiring coaches he decided on Wade because he thought Romo was a safe bet. He needed somebody to "fix" the defense. So he decided against Norv Turner at the last minute.

3yrs later, Romo seems to have issues and the next hire will probably be a coach to help get more out of him.

Still 11 games to go though, hopefully Romo gets it going.

Am I in the minority that thinks Romo doesn't need much work? I'd rather help this offense out with a defensive minded coach that can force turnovers and win some games for us for once.

Definitely ironic.

But not surprising since Jerry basically hired a "half coach" in Wade anyway.

Garrett was already in place to run half the team and Jerry just wanted another 3-4 guy to keep the defens intact.

I think the next guy has to have connections on both sides of the ball.

I'm wondering about Dom Capers' contract with the Packers because I think I had read that Garrett had some connection to him.

And if Garrett does get the head job, I think Capers would be on his short list if he's available.

Eh....if our defense doesn't completely suck, we're 5-0 right now.

I would rather give the job to Garrett. But thank all that is holy, Capers will NOT be available.

Ideal scenario would have been if Wade was fired after '08 and we could have gotten Mike Nolan to coach our 3-4.

If Capers is only listed as a coordinator with Green Bay you could hire him here if he were to get a promotion of sorts.Coordinator there to coodinator/asst. head coach here.

Ding ding. This defense has been riding off our offense for 3 years now.

A good QB coach is all you need to fix Romo if he is fixable.

Romo's terrific.

There's always room for improvement, but Tony doesn't need much "fixing", folks.

Dear God, not Shannahan.

Our defense, which already has problems, will suffer.

Not sure it was any worse in the Giants and Broncos game than the QB though.

I still think as poor as mediocre as the defense played, if Romo would have played even average we'd have won both those games comfortably.

While we're wishing I'd like to wait on the rest of the year before not extending Wade's contract. He's definitely abysmal at giving sound bites but he's a very good DC. We're a safety and some CB experience away from having a pretty damn stout defense. Who knows what M Hamlin will bring to Sensabaugh (I've given up on the other Hamlin).

I won't say I wouldn't like a coach with more power. Or better said may be someone who gets Jerry to back the hell off. I'm just not certain that Jerry is going to go down that path again.

Better think twice about wanting to bring a bunch of new coaches in here and changing the schemes up. That generally takes some time for people to adjust to. I'm not getting any younger either.

Besides any new HC is going to be named Jason Garrett unless the number one offense in the entire NFL suddenly tanks.

if he's been playing hurt, yeah thats fine

but if he is healthy and playing the way he has so far this yr, something is wrong and yeah, he needs fixing

he was better vs KC, but he was awful vs NYG and Denver and probably no better than above average vs Tampa and Carolina

we dont have a dominant defense, so we need Romo to be "good" or "great" to win against quality teams.

No objections there.

Yeah, Nolan's done an amazing job with what he's got in Denver.

I'm wondering if there's a young, up-and-coming, 3-4 coordinator candidate out there?

Maybe Pittsburgh's linebackers coach?

Garrett intrigues me as a coaching prospect.Part of the intrigue with Garrett stems from the long term relationship that exists between the Garrett and Jones families.I'm just thinking that Jerry will let Jason do things that he most likely would not allow an outsider to do.

Romo needs plent of work. he still can't make all the throws(fades) and he can't make some easy throws consistently(slants) among other things if he's gonna be an elite qb.

...you serious?

He was stellar @ Tampa Bay and very, very solid vs. Carolina.

As much as I want Wade gone, I want Norv as a head coach even less. Both reached their ceilings as coordinators.
