Burning timeouts

Confusion over personnel caused the Dallas Cowboys to use two timeouts in a span of 38 seconds while the New York Giants had the ball in last Sunday's loss. Coach Wade Phillips said the problem was the officials did not make it clear that tackle William Beatty was in the game as an eligible receiver.

This marked only the second time the defense has had to use a timeout in an abnormal situation. It previously happened during the win at Philadelphia.

It's been another story for the offense. That unit has has used seven timeouts in abnormal situations. that group.

i can see burning one when the giants tried to be sneaky and get the player in that was an offensive linemen but eligible to receive, but what i dont get, wade said that he didnt hear the refs announce the eligible offensive linemen, but they did, maybe someone could explain that to me, when we heard it on tv, but wade and the staff didnt hear it?
