Jason Garrett his job to lose

Jon Gruden - no way plez god not Chuckie
Mike Holmgren - no way as HC maybe GM
Mike Shanahan - rather have his son - don't think Daddys up to it anymore
Bill Cowher - OMG I would have to shoot someone if he is picked

now give me Del Rio

The same Jack Del Rio that's lost control of his team in Jacksonville, which might be the most irrelevant market in the league?

Do you really think that guy could handle Dallas?

He could have had the head jobs at Auburn, Alabama, Miami and Tennessee if he had wanted them and didn't bat an eye. He and his family are in love with "blue heaven". I don't' see him leaving for another college position.

With that being said he spoke of his love for the Cowboys and their head coaching position as being a "dream job" before he took my beloved Tar Heel's head post and it's the one job I could see him flipping for.

The Jaguars are right up there with the Bengals and Vikings in terms of the number of discipline problems they've had, but it's like I said they're an in an irrelevant market. If I'm not mistaken they led the league in arrests last year and they are surely one of the top teams of the decade in that category a lot of which has come under Del Rio. It got so bad last year that Del Rio had to sit one of them better players in Mike Peterson down and now he's on another team. The Jaguars are a mess on and off the field and Jack Del Rio's the coach. With Wade Phillips, at least it's about what the players are doing on it.

Did I miss something, do we have a current opening at HC? Did they play the season already and I missed it?

Nope, just conversation my friend.

h this surprises me - I always respected Del Rio - thanks Monster

more bad news for Jack

Despite these assumed flaws of coach Del Rio, this year it appears he has righted the ship. At the end of the 2008 season, he admitted what went wrong, but promised a tough off-season and getting back to basics. No longer does he look like a players coach, but a strict disciplinarian, who will not tolerate players with poor work ethic. He's shaken up the roster a lot in favor of players with good character and leadership qualities. The old players who had law troubles or maturity issues are no longer with the team.
Are these changes enough to keep Del Rio's job safe? I thought so, until he addressed the media Tuesday following an O.T.A. practice. What happened was defensive tackle John Henderson reportedly pulled himself from practice due to a minor shoulder injury, and this caused Del Rio to tell the media how disappointed he was in Henderson's decision. As a coach, Del Rio has every right to get on his players' cases when they aren't working their hardest, but to address the media about it is not wise. Going public lets reporters and fans in on the conflict when it'd be better to solve it in private and move on.

I still think Jack could handle Dallas

if he had help like Dallas does for troubled players

Calvin Hill - Hill currently works for the Dallas Cowboys organization as a consultant who specializes in working with troubled players

Butch Davis is better than what the Boys have... Wade is coaching BP team and as time goes on that will be more and more apparent.

It was something worth discussing at the end of last yr (especially after the Philly debacle) but now with an offseason of positive changes, some staff upgrades and a healthier team, talking about who the next coach is at this point is a defeatist attitude.

Wait till the people are dead before you bury them. I'd rather go 12-4 and win the super bowl with Wade and then keep him around, then 9-7 and have to run him off after this yr. Unfortunately too people in here many dont get that. Apparently some think hiring new coaches is more exciting than winning football games. Even with the record at 0-0 and before TC has even started, some want to talk about 2010.

Del Rio is such an intriguing choice.
He is driven and not afraid to challenge a player.
He is tough and demands toughness from players.

Man, an intriguing choice.

:)

And now back from the alternate universe . . . .

You actually see a resurgent Cowboys team led by Wade?
Yes, this team is loaded with stars and with proven skill.
No, we are not at that ascendancy because of our weak HC.
Having been humiliated by Philly and then watching the playoffs on TV, WADE and the team shrugged and walked away.
Unless Wade pulls off a Super Bowl victory, and assuming the Eagles and Giants slump, I'll be the first to say you were prescient.

But please don't bet the family farm that Wade can turn this thing around, this year, from that humiliating defeat by the Eagles and our December swoon.
If you believe Wade can do it, well that is just bunker mentality.

It isnt all on Wade dude. He makes a nice scape goat, but there were other factors in this team flopping last yr. Injuries, awful special teams, too many rogue players.

The team is healthy right now. The special teams was vastly upgraded. The rogue players are gone.

We were 13-3 just two seasons ago, and I think this team is better from player 1 through player 53. The team speed is considerably better. I also think its addition by subtraction in running Stewart and Read.
