The 2014 Dallas Cowboys offense will score within 50 points points of what it's defense gives up? Not sure how that will convert to wins or loses, but do you buy this statement?

Say just say for instance .. 390 points on offense to 440 on defense? Could be anywhere between 7-9 and 10-6

If you sell it's 6-10 or worse.

With Romo all season, they score within 50....scored within 2pts (all scores) last year

I'm buying also. If the defense averages but four drive stops and two turnovers a game...I'm bumping that up by another 50.

Last year we scored 442 and allowed 432. So I am buying your statement.
so you are saying the offense is a tick better and the defense is a tick worse and Dallas ends up at the same spot?. "progress" is sometime masked by "The shift in "leap year" and the "tide"

i keed.. i'm right there with you guys...only if this defense plays above it's head in the right situation with this group. Time will tell.

I'm hoping for a couple surprises..That's why we they play the game. True stuff.

Why does "sell" automatically mean 6-10 or worse?

The Giants were -89 in point differential and won 7. The Jets were worse at -97 and pulled out 8 wins.

In 2011, 3 AFCW teams were negative with Denver being at -81, Oakland at -74, and KC at -126. Chargers were +26 but the whole division finished with 8 wins except KC who had 7.

Play most games close and have an offense that's outta sync against the elite teams and you're probably well on your way.

Everybody keeps saying if our D can stand up......I actually like our rotation @Defensive End..

LE....Crawford/Spencer

RE....Selvie/Lawerence

It's DT I'm worried about. You got Melton as a pass rusher..and then what? Do you really trust any @ NT ....Hayden/Bishop/Brent???

I'd love to see Okoye step up(been a big fan)....but how can you trust a guy coming out of a 5 month coma?

This Martin kid is a speed bump @ NT..but he flashed @ the 3 tech.

The whole key to this D is finding a NT that can hold the point of attack on 1st and 2nd down.....and then finding someone that can gash the C/G on passing downs.

Is Davon Coleman that guy? I have my doubts:rolleyes:

Forgot about McClain...how can you know about a guy if he isn't gonna practice or play in a game? The guy had a prime opportunity...and he is about to step off a cliff

There are entirely too many variables to decide whether or not the offense will be capable of making up for the shortcomings of the defense this year. Certainly, if the defense is as bad as many think it to be it'll be tough to make up for their incompetence. If, on the other hand, capable defenders are able return to health or are acquired through the waiver wire, perhaps it won't be as hopeless as it presently looks to be on the surface. Yes, things aren't promising defensively right now but that might easily change.

Let's see where our defensive line stands; 1. Almost the entire DL is coming off some kind of injury, sounds like last years team to me; 2. This year there is a rotation of backup DL who can play, that is different than last year; 3. LB are injured, same as last year; 4. DB have injuries, same as last year; 5. Thin at critical positions, same as last year. So, the only thing different this year is depth at DL. I think this year will look a lot like last year with a good bet that 8-8 is the Cowboy record. If Romo goes down then look for a 6-10 record. My money is on 8-8 and can still win the division!!

I'll buy.
I think the offense and special teams will actually outscore what the defense and special teams give up.
They will need to avoid more than one blow out loss though...and maybe get at least on blowout win.

They'll blow out a few people most likely so i think theyll score more than they give.

Do you have some stats to correlate that with 6-10?

No,i do not just playing average for the sake of the question. I have seen -97 have a 7-9 record. So, nothing in stone.

I didn't mean for it to be taken as fact..sorry about that.

OK, I'm not certain that I understand the scenario.

In 2013:
Cowboys defense gave up 432 points.
Cowboys offense scored 439 points.
Denver offense scored 606 points.

I'll say that the Cowboys defense is the same in 2014 and gives up 432 points.

I'll say that the offense improves and scores 500 points.

Am I buy or selling?

You would be buying.

I think the offense will score more points this year with linehan. So I'm buying as well.

When was the last time Dallas blew someone out? They always play up or down to their opponents level.
