Byron Jones says Terrance Williams difficult to cover

The fact of the matter is- Williams is a tough runner to cover. He glides and flies at times. But his hands leave something to be desired. It's a question as to whether he is inconsistent, or the offense neglects to go his way more often, for whatever reason (run game, Dez instead?) Whatever the reason, he has 'disappeared' often thus far. But I like his size, his jets and, most of all, his apparent respect for the qb position and Tony Romo.

I think the body catcher is going to be a huge part of what we do this year. I think he's more focused, and could have a big year. He even mentioned that he took plays off and that he won't do it again. People do change.

Is this good or bad news?

It's good... Williams has all of the tangents... and speed...

The fact that he took plays off last year is disappointing, but he said it will not happen again... seems he is going full bore every play now... that's what it takes to go to the next level...

Irvin was a body catcher coming in to the Cowboys... he learned to catch with his hands during his injury and the rest is history. Not saying Williams can take that leap, but things are positive...

Jones isn't raw technique wise. He has better technique than most other cornerbacks coming out of college. He worked hard at maintaining proper technique in college when he actually would have just been better off relying on his athleticism.

He's not a "raw athlete" or "workout warrior" type at all. I suppose because he wasn't in a big name program and he has crazy unreal athleticism people have tried to fit him in that stereotype but it doesn't fit in the slightest.

He looks like he's got good technique to me, too. He's a better athlete than he is a technician, but he's an exceptional athlete. In coverage, though, he just looks really comfortable staying along side the receiver. I'm sure there's things he needs to work on (he has fairly stiff hips, for example), but he's fun to watch here early.

Breaks his route off at the top of the tree...........is he where Tony Romo expects him to be, at the time he is supposed to be? Maybe that is why Jones is stuggling with him....he is freelancing?.........all questions/ not statements

Byron Jones: I'd say Morris Claiborne. That guy has been extremely helpful for me, building up my confidence. Every day he says something small, in the locker room or on the field. I've been very happy with him. And Brandon Carr has been the same way. I'm very happy where I'm at.

Didn't see that coming.

Hell adjust better once they put the clamps on him in camp. When he goes against dez Jason Beasley etc. hell realize more of the NFL speed.

I like it, it shows Terrance as the best WR outside of Dez which points to some distancing from last year over other WRs, possibly showing significant improvements from Williams.

Evaluation from the top pick shows the pro game isn't too big for the youngster to differentiate talent while learning under the curve as a rookie.

Whew... I feel better now.

Me too.

What we have is a humble guy who has no sense of entitlement as our #1..

This is good.

I will not be surprised to see him a lot at one of the safety positions soon.

He has the size, speed and physical tools for it.

I would think if Carr and Claiborne get thru the summer healthy..

in order to get the best 4 secondary guys on the field, Byron starts at FS.

Which certainly helps the DL and LBs while all the changes smooth out.

It's comical that you can't see or admit that you love anything with a Star.

Oh you and Adam are laughing at me over the internet....oh no.

Seems like you take this a little too serious. Chase/stalk me down in threads, but the one thread that went against your homer ways, you curled up in a dark corner somewhere hiding.

Stop being a baby, you can dish it, but can't take it.

It hurts you when I diss Williams. :lmao:

Well everybody here is laughing at you, but at least school is out for the summer so you get a couple of months of vacation (unless you have to attend summer school)..

Gotta be gracious towards the dude you're replacing

He just knows who the next guy in line is behind dez. The guy that is getting first team reps. The guy that goes first in every receiving drill. I wouldn't read too much into it.

Yeah I can tell those are the type of comments that get to you. "Everyone is laughing at you"

The fact you keep repeating it, as if this is high school, and as if it's supposed to get me upset, shows me you went through this before and it touched you in a way :lmao:

You on here trying to make friends with people you'll never meet, and have them like you :lmao2:

Now you're just spewing gibberish. This post makes no sense.

My guess is that "making friends" is a reference to my high like count.

LOL no one mentioned your like count. Ha-ha you just wanted to mention it, desperate to show people like you.

I can now see you are mad. Who goes out of their way to point at "like" counts over the internet?
