Calling Jason Witten out

I suppose you didn't see how fired up he got when he converted a 3rd and 8 in the 4th. Yeah, he sure did lose his heart <rollseyes>

There are some seriously stupid comments made on this forum, aren't there?

Witten deserves criticism, but not for losing heart, and not for anything that the OP suggested. This is either epic thread fail, or simple stupidity if you buy this crap.

I think he still has the fire.

But, I think the game has become less fun for him since he has to help out the O-Line so much.

My problem with him is his attention to detail. There's a reason why he doesn't get many TD catches...he doesn't slip out of the block properly. Which is a big reason why Henderson made the INT.

Like I've said about other teams that continually do well, they would probably develop a Martellus Bennett to replace him, give Bennett more playing time while Witten sees more time on the bench, and give Bennett more looks. If that didn't work, then nothing will.

He's too 'untouchable' for my tastes, although I still love him as a player...he just needs a new coaching staff to get him re-focused.

YR

I think Witten has made his share of mistakes along with others including Miles Austin and Romo but I don't think Witten lacks heart for the game

I'd like to see video, but I beleive on both the tipped pass Int. early in the game and the INt. by E.J.Henderson, Witten had drawn double coverage----EJ Henderson was actually the 3rd defender dropping off a possible fake blitz.

I'd gather depending on down/distance Witten is drawing double coverage quite often--he is Romo's fav target over the yrs by far...........

If that is the Case, Garrett should be using Witten down the seam deep often to clear out LB's and or Safety........letting Austin, Roy and Dez run crossing routes (which you never see in Garretts Offense by the way)

Dallas runs crossing routes when they trust their O-line to protect long enough to make them work. Austin scored a long TD on a crossing route last year against Atlanta.

easy on the sure fire HOFer.....he does not get in the endzone...and that will have to change or he will NEVER see the HOF...especially since he has really been the #1 option here for a long time. Couple that with one playoff win and he is headed for the Hall of Very Good
Maybe that's the problem, him not being the number 1 option here anymore. I love me some Jason Witten but his play seems to have dropped off this year.

This guy has lost heart.

He didn't fight for the ball at all on tipped interception.

He didn't go after the ball at the end of the game on the lateral last ditch effort.

Everyone was trying hard to make something happen, except him...

This hurts me a lot since as I have said he was my 2nd favorite player.

oh lord. talk about a reach to find someone new to bag on.

I think this is what it is. I don't think he's particularly happy about his role in the offense. The Oline sucks so bad that he has to continually help out. I think it's worn him down. And he's sloppy, undisciplined as a result.

A new coach would be nice...Fix up the Oline and get Jason out there catching passes.

You know, it almost seems like he does not care at times. Too many times i have seen him reach up for an off target pass and just tip it with one hand. Instead, he should be moving his body and going after it with two hands. If its not a perfect pass, he usually does not try hard to catch it.

He commits penalties every game. A tight end should not have as many false starts as he does. Its ridiculous. He's a veteran and i think his status gives him a pass. If bennet was doing the same things as him, the media and you guys would be all over him. But its jason witten so he gets a pass

His play has not been good this year and sometimes it seems like the effort is not there. I don't know what the deal is, but it is concerning. Too bad phillips went down for the season cause he was coming on strong

Yeah, but he's a tight end. They need to be able to block from time to time without committing penalties.

There is nothing wrong with criticizing Witten. The problem is that the criticism that he lacks heart is just wrong. There is nothing that shows that Witten lacks heart. He should be criticized for his false starts. That is a true issue. The guy has a ton of heart.

I agree. Witten has made mistakes and like any player he should be called out by fans about these mistakes but to question his heart I think it becomes a stretch and has more to do with the fans frustration than the reality

The only thing Jason can be called out on is his penalties...just like several other players on this team.

On the Int. it took a long long time for him to realize : oh maybe I should run and try to stop him.

He had no reaction.... if the problem is not his heart than it is between the ears.

I really like Witten and all he has done for the team, but he is not the same this year.

I don't question his heart but something is wrong when he's only good for penalties this season.

HOFer? I doubt it.

I doubt he has lost his heart, more like his patience with some of the idiots he calls team mates and coaches. Nobody is above calling out though.
