Mort is on GAC lobbying for us to sign Matt Jones. He says we need a red zone WR, and while Matt has been lazy before, Mort says he's very motivated now. With Mort's Arkansas ties, maybe he knows something.

He actually went on for a couple minutes about it. Kind of odd for him to bring that up out of the blue.

We know how everyone feels about Matt Jones... Just thought I'd throw it out there. :)

Mort is in love with Matt Jones. He's never had anything bad to say about him. I think Matt Jones and Mort's son were teammates at Arkansas.

Actually, I thought Matt was already gone by the time Mort's son got there. I know Mort was a huge fan of Felix because his son played with him and Mort knew how good he was.

I could be wrong, though...

We don't need more big tall guys with great straight line speed.

If anything play Kevin Ogletree.

Now that's something I agree with. Not that KO is the savior, but for years I've wanted us to get a guy with some quickness. We have all these tall, long striders that can't create separation. It's kind of amazing that we don't have a single quick WR.

Next year we do that for sure IMO.

You aint kidding.

We got three mismatch players.

Witten vs ANY LB
Roy over most DB's height and great hands/jump ball
Bennett - beast that has not applied himself correctly - forget about youtube and twitter, son.

You know what? If it's a minimum type contract, I say do it. Why not take a chance? Our WR corp hasn't really lit the world on fire. If he messes up again (off the field) or doesn't produce (on the field) you cut him. I really don't see the harm right now.

the harm would probably come from disrupting the guys currently here, like williams did last year.

Peoples roles changed. It caused frustration and confusion.

This year we have hurd healthy so it would be even more confusing, especially because miles austin will always be active because of special teams as will crayton and hurd. Roy williams will always be active also.

so even if you had jones, how would you even make him active? Carry 5 active wr every week? that is crazy, that costs you a linebacker or safety/corner of lineman.

Yeah, I confess that I would've signed Jones... But the problem is, you pretty much have to cut someone to bring him in. And which WR would you cut?

It would take an injury for it to really make sense.

Thanks for the head's up.

I think that Jones did have some connection to Mort's son.

Or maybe Mort just saw him there while visiting his son.

There's an article Mort did a few years back pimping Jones big-time.

Calling him the next Randy Moss or something.

And people think I have it bad!

Can we deactivate Wade?

Seriously, I get what you are saying. I like the USC (Pete Carroll) mentallity. You compete and the best player plays. Don't worry about a guy's ego or past position, best guy plays. If Jones can come in and beat out Hurd or Austin then he plays. I like Hurd, Austin, and Ogletree all as 5th WR type players. The fact that all three are on our 53 bothers me. So far this season Austin hasn't impressed me at all despite Jerry Jones overvaluing him.
