You mean based on your track record of prediction as to the "innocence" of the cheaters?:lmao2:
Oh there's a surprise. Someone hijacking a thread that has nothing to do with the Patriots and bringing the Patriots into it.

You really just can't help yourself, can you? This thread is about Calvin Johnson. Show the OP some respect and stay on topic please. TIA.

Looks like he will count roughly $12 million against the cap in dead money. He would count about $24 million if he played in 2016 under his current deal.

There is a lot more to this story.

If CJ retires the DET could go after 3.2m of his signing bonus and use that to lessen his cap hit.

Like you said, if he waits until the League year starts in March, DET would have to make room for his 24m cap hit. They would probably cut him at that point, releasing him from any repayment and making him a FA. But DET wouldn't have to hold 24m in cap space aside.

They will probably reach some kind of settlement.

All you can do is admire someone who would walk away from that much money... or at least admire his convictions. While I have no doubt he will get in, he's a pretty questionable hall of famer in my book. Not a knock on him... 0 rings, only 2 truly special seasons and retiring at age 30 didn't give him enough time to have some more memorable playoff moments.

His contract had a huge guarantee. He's still getting paid.

Detroit is a factory of sadness!

It sure is. In the super bowl era Detroit has been to the playoffs 11 times in 50 years and have won one game. I mean if you're a player playing or going to that team it's like being punished to a weather station in Antarctica. Say what you will about our own super bowl drought. At least we have a massive history of winning in multiple decades and 5 Lombardi's. I don't see how you can be a fan of the Lions and not want to jump off the highest building in town.

Yep. Arguably the 2 best ever at their respective positions. Crazy.

there isn't really too much of an argument for CJ to be the greatest at his position. Jerry Rice, Randy Moss and TO all dwarf his number and you can't really use the longevity argument against them considering some of the individual season numbers they put up. To be honest, if this is it for him, he's below several others.

In light of our previous conversation, this comment is golden.
I notice neither of you have the sack to ante up with a prediction of your own.

That's ok. I'll be proven right eventually. And you'll know it when it happens.

Guess who that one win was against? :(
