With the pats

deal could go up to 7.5 million if he meets incentives. That is a former league mvp.

why can’t we sign dak to this type of deal. Lol.

Wow. This should be interesting. If anyone knows how to play to a player's strengths, it's Belichek. Newton might start looking really good again.

Richard Sherman is not happy, but the dude will hold a clipboard for a year and make 1 million dollars. Like what is the problem? AND If he is asked to play he has incentives that can take him up to about 7 million. He is injured and still recovering so its not a bad deal for either party.

Its actually a really smart way Cam bet on himself. NE is high visibility and the Qb competition is wide open. If he gets his career back on track, he's looking at 3 year, 100 million dollar deal. Whereas if he signs as a high priced backup somewhere else, he decreases his chance of a big payday.

Yup.

Stidham was a weak college player and Hoyer is a career backup. The job is Cam's to win as long as his arms and legs don't fall off. The only reason not to take the Patriots gig from Cam's POV is that the wide receiver/TE situation is pretty mediocre. But even so, 1 year of playing for the best coach in the league on a team with a solid OL and really strong defense is a great chance for him to revitalize his career.

Something people are overlooking is that the Panthers used the same basic Erhardt-Perkins offensive system as the Patriots for most of Newton's career - including during his MVP season. His learning curve isn't going to be nearly as steep as people assume.

This is a solid reason to sign Cam. Cam's athelticism at the position makes up a little for the lack of talent. Having to keep LB spies makes average skill position players a little better.

Good for Cam!

Named the starter and a team captain today.

Could be a nice story this year
