THE T.O. SHOW
About a week ago, Terrell Owens said he was thinking about a costume change. At practice Thursday, Lance Owens appeared. Riding the exercise bike, T.O. wore a Discovery Channel cycling jersey, cycling sunglasses and a cycling helmet. "It's just my little kickoff for the Tour de T.O. Comeback. I'm just trying to have fun," said Owens, who shed the outfit about 10 minutes into practice. "I couldn't find a yellow jersey. I looked." T.O. said his sore hamstring feels better but wouldn't put a timetable on his return.
SCOUTING REPORT
John Saldi, LB, 6-5, 245 Texas Tech, rookie free agent
Saldi is fighting for a spot on a roster that is deep at linebacker. He hopes to stay with the Cowboys, but, if that doesn't happen, he hopes this experience will be a good audition for another NFL team.
"My best friend [former Tech linebacker Mike Smith] is with the Ravens, and he explained how training camp was," Saldi said. "Parcells' camps are a little tougher than he described.
"But it's been good. These are guys I watched in college, and it's been a great experience. DeMarcus Ware has stayed after [practice], and he helps me a lot. For him to be helping out a guy like me is really cool. I've learned a lot from him and just by being here."
THE BUZZ
Hazing Light
Rookie defensive tackle Montavious Stanley thought it was going to be worse, but the hazing he was expecting has turned out to be Hazing Light.
"I had to sing a little bit," Stanley said. "I carried [Jason] Ferguson's bags. I bring Gatorade to the meetings. I carry playbooks.
"They've been easy on me so far."
Stanley, who played for Louisville in college, wasn't asked to sing his alma mater's fight song because, "I don't know it," he said.
Instead, he sang a song from his little league football team in Albany, Ga. The team?
"We were the Cowboys," he said.
Hazing Extra
Free-agent rookie defensive lineman Stephen Bowen wasn't formally hazed, but he feels like it.
In a recent meeting with the defensive linemen, Bowen prepared to take a seat, but Jason Ferguson pulled the chair away and Bowen fell on his rear.
"He got it the worst," Montavious Stanley said. "He busted his butt pretty bad."
"All you gotta do from now on, except a few plays on Saturday, is rest. The hardest part is over."
