That would give us a solid left tackle playing the guard position, also someone who is big and strong.... Big, Dre, and Barron in the middle, that's 1000lbs of beef...

Barron is more of a finesse player, weak as a run blocker and lacks the ability to anchor against strong pass rushers. Considering that, he'd probably be a terrible fit at LG. I don't know why everyone is always so eager to replace Kosier anyway, he's a high quality player.

He has the wingspan of a 7-6 guy... a poor fit for the interior...

I'd replace Davis before I replaced Kosier.

We saw how valuable he was when he was hurt two seasons ago but he's always the one that needs to be replaced first.

Kosier was graded out as our best offensive linemen last year, why do people always want to move him out, I assume because he's not a big name player. Barron is here to be the veteran swing tackle backup on gameday. Brewster is a better option to play guard, not tackle.

I'm not so sure that everyone is eager to replace Kosier as they are cognizant of the fact that this is the final year of Kosier's contract. Could he be re-signed? Sure, but the trend seems to be shifting toward youth, team-wide. With that in mind I think a lot of posters are looking more toward probability than they are what they want.

Now, I know that there have been posters that have been looking to get rid of Kosier since the day we signed him. They are the ignorant. Anyone who's been paying attention knows that Kosier consistently grades out as one of our best lineman. But, I don't think ALL posters that are looking past Kosier's tenure are doing so out of hope but more out of the reality of it's, seemingly imminent, end.

Like the saying goes: if you wait until you NEED a player before you have one in place, it's already too late.

Alex Barron is an Offensive Tackle not a Gaurd, take a wild guess what position the Dallas OLine needs.

He was brought here to be the backup tackle, so that other guys could take a shot at guard.

Can we replace our best performing OL with a bad team's castoff from another position? Probably. Would it be stupid? Yes.

I could have sworn I just read something that said runs to his side averaged over 5 yds per carry and ranked 2nd in the NFL. Maybe it's just me, but let's not just throw opinions out there as if they are facts.

Sorry, I was just going off the opinion of a professional scout, as seen in the "Scouting Report" thread...

"Average strength in run game. Not a very physical run blocker.

Finesse player...where have I heard that before? Did we gain anything or just trade one mediocre player for another?

I would rather have Kosier with a broken arm then this guy...

let me ask you guys something. Why does everybody want to replace Kosier? He's been solid at LG. If this kid can out perform Kosier for the job then fine but untill then He's jsut another jag in my eyes. Kosier is our guy end of story.

I don't think Barron will even get a look at guard.

Kosier has been a decent player since he was signed here. But at the same time I also think that the LG position can be upgraded.Kosier is a serviceable player but his play is far from dominant.

Pro Football Focus has him graded out as a below average run blocker. That's based on film study, not opinion. If your stat is correct, maybe he's good at the occasional block that springs a long run, but not very consistent.

Well Vela had me convinced he could but the "Anonymous Scout" has me Kornfused now...:

We're fine at guard. Kosier is very good and Davis is Pro Bowl-caliber. And Holland makes for a very good backup. I don't know where the Holland hate comes from...he is better than Procter and if we weren't set at guard already, I think he could start.
