Can Brewster replace McQ sometime this season?

Is it possible that Brewster comes back sometime this season? I know a torn pec muscle is serious, but how long ago was the injury and how long is rehab on it?

Could he be able to come in and backup Columbo at any time this season?

I would highly doubt it only because of the fact Brewster is a rookie who has missed so much time.

I thought as much, but he is one the PUP list and not IR. What is the benefit to that if he won't suit up this season?

I doubt it.

I look for Brewster to take Proctor's spot on the roster IF the Cowboy's have faith that Preston can make the line-calls.

I don't think so. I find the move to put him on the PUP kind of suspect. He will have to come off the PUP list after week 6 and go on the active roster or IR. That would mean cutting someone to make room for a player that certainly will not be ready to play for another month or so at the very earliest and even then has no experience. I just can't see them doing that.

the stated reason is that they want him to be able to practice/study with the team to get at least "some" experience this season. If they put him on IR he cannot practice with the team.

I have to admit I question the move. Brewster may turn out to be a good pickup for us but I just don't see him being able to contribute this season. I think Dallas should have placed him on the IR and focus on next season for him.

Once he comes off the PUP, we can still go ahead and put him on the IR, so it's not like we lost that opportunity.

Maybe next season he overtakes McQ, but not this one.

There is some wiggle room involved.

After the six weeks, the team has a three week window to decide if the PUP player is going to be able to practice. If the player is cleared to resume practicing, the team then has another three weeks from that date to determine whether or not to place him on the active roster or injured reserve.

When a player is injured prior to Training Camp they can be placed on the PUP list. Once a player has participated in at least one practice they are no longer eligible to be placed on the PUP list. If a player is placed on the PUP list to start the regular season, they must remain on the PUP list for six weeks. After that the team has 3 weeks to get the player involved in practices then 3 more weeks to activate that player or they remain on the PUP list for the entire season.

So we basically have 12 weeks to see.

I sure hope so. McQ and Procter are the 2 names I am least excited about still on the team. Sadly, I prefer Prcoter to McQ.

Vela wrote on his/Halpren's blog, in the comments, that the Cowboys were ready to dump Proctor on the spot, but Brewster got hurt.

I'm just the messenger.

Yeah but I thought Brewster was gonna be a RT this year? I know he'll probably move inside in the future, but if he's a tackle he's injury shouldn't effect Proctor

In Jerry's comments, after the last pre-season game - didn't he say that Brewster needs to change his body ? As in lose the fat. I don't think he will play this year, and wasn't that the team's "thinking" when he was first drafted anyway ?

Listening to Talking Cowboys today, Micky and Eatman were going thru the depth on the team, and while talking about the OL, Brad joined in and stated that some of the linemen on the team today will not be here next week.

I was actually excited the coaches finally moved Pat McQuistan to guard this off-season because he just doesn't have the feet to be anything more than an emergency tackle, IMO.

But I still like him better at either spot than I do Cory Procter, a player I do not trust to anchor in one on one situations.

I've seen Procter play with the starters and the results were poorer than when Kyle Kosier or Montrae Holland was out there.

I haven't seen McQ out there with the ones, and I may never. I expect Doug Free to be the reserve tackle on the game day 45 this season.

I find that very easy to believe.

Proctor should buy Brewster dinner sometime.

How do we know Proctor was not involved somehow in Brewsters injury? Maybe he was the guy pushing Brewster to lift more when he tore his pec.

I love conspiracy theories- the dumber the better so I can laugh harder.
