Scouting reports don't agree with this bruising assessment in this report

Sometimes you have a plan that you feel so confident in that you can't even fathom failing in your assessment of that plan. We've all been guilty of this and we'll all probably make the same mistake again at some point in our lives. This is precisely the predicament the Cowboys find themselves in after five games. They have lost their identity that led them to a 12-4 record last season and Jason Garrett's first postseason victory as a head coach. Now, they are on a mission to get that back in time to save their season.

To move forward always leaves the ability to look back and this exercise takes us back to the decisions made by this team in the offseason. I refuse to chastise this team for letting DeMarco Murray walk because it was a financial decision that substantial research suggested was the right idea. It's easy for most of the "talking-heads" to criticize this team for this decision but they don't necessarily get the macro-view. As former players, which most of these critics are, we shouldn't expect them to necessarily understand the full ramifications of that decision. They will always side with the player and that isn't a critique.

After Michael, then Rod Smith hopefully gets a few chances too.

But best part about that article, which I do not recall ever being brought up with all the millions of posts about Mirray not being here. Is that we would not have Hardy, if Murray was here. But I also add McClain in there too.

We needed the defense and pass rush far more than Murray, as we could, at least in theory survive with a different RB. as at the we still had the draft to look at for a replacement.

so your saying if Murray took the 6 mil a year offer from cowboys, that we could not have got hardy??
Or that if they offered 2 more mil that would have prevented them getting hardy?
I think they could have done both.

My thoughts. The rushing game is not going to be close to what is was last year until #9 and #88 get on the field and get their timing down. You can put any RB in there right now and won't see that much difference until then.

How's Murray doing with the Eagle's?

That is irrelevant to what could have been here with dallas.
Time will tell how he does with phil.
they had a lot of new players, and it takes time for it all to gel.
He has had 2 good weeks in a row 83 and 102 yds, and they won both games.
Have to wait and see if that continues.

Ok, so he and philly get a pass because they have new players, and it takes time to gel, but our RBs suck because of no Romo and no Dez, and OL needed time to gel from no TC together....got it...

He had 2 weeks of good yards, well, most of his yards came late in the game when it was decided against a worn down NY defense. Now I know many RBs get their yards that way. But last year in Dallas he got his yards all through games. This year in Philly, and the first 3 quarters of that game, he wasn't doing as well.

Had murray stayed the whole course of events would be different and that play romo got hurt on would never have happened.

pure speculation
My view is the biggest loss was Callahan and injuries
I am betting with the odds that Murray will loss his legs like history

And if in 1988, if GB wouldn't have beaten The Cardinals in the last game of the season, they would have had the first pick in the 1989 draft. They would have picked Aikman....then they would have never had Favre, which means they never would have picked Rodgers...which means we may have had been able to pick him, which means we never would have had Romo to get injured because Murray wasn't here.....

I did not say or rb's suck lol, they just are not as good as murray.
Our OL is the same as last year, so they had all last year together.
They are dealing with new backs though and no callahan.
phil has new OL some playing that position for first time so they should get better as season goes along.
And both matthews and murray are new .

Dallas has done ok running, but a big step down from what they had last year.

It isnt speculation, had murray stayed each game would have been different, and that play romo was hurt on would not have occurred.
He might have got hurt on some other play, but everything would have unfolded in a different way.

How in the heck could Joseph Randle-Darren McFadden-Lance Dunbar fail?
