Can Cowboys bring Nick Foles back to earth?

I thought his early success after he break out game with 7 TDs and 0 Interceptions was a aberration -- mainly the result of playing against really bad teams.

10 games in he has 25 TDs, 2 Interceptions, and a 119 QB rating.

Since the Cowboys knocked him out of the earlier game with a concussion I've been waiting for him to suck and he has not come through.

I watched every minute of the Bears-Eagle game and in a game that didn't matter he broke the Eagles single-game franchise record by completing 84 percent of his passes (21 of 25). The crazy part is that three of his four incompletions came on balls that were thrown away.

I refuse the believe the Eagles found a QB this good. Please tell me that Foles is going to come back to earth and that the Eagles haven't lucked upon a Franchise QB for the next decade.

Can the Cowboys make him fall back to earth this week?

As they say, the water gets a little deeper now. It'll be hard for me to judge him when facing a pathetic Dallas defense. But if they win this week, lets see how he does against a legit defense in a playoff game. I just wish Demarcus Ware still had game.

Sure they can, if we play very disciplined D, and work on taking out McCoy again. McCoy makes their O go.

Foles played a great game, he isn't likely to go there again...I would expect that he will be good, not great in this game....the question is, can the Cowboys play better?

I keep hearing all the excuses as to why Foles had a bad game. Our defense stopped McCoy and we kept putting pressure on Foles. Minnesota did the same thing and with their two starting CB's out they still slowed them down. Foles struggles when he has constant pressure and he gets flustered fast. You could see his body language in both games in which he looked frustrated.

What we need to do is have Ware not break so wide on plays; leaves a big hole every time. Kearse should help with getting a push up front and that is on top of the players we had in our previous matchup that won the battle on the line. Mo's status is big. If he's a go it will allow us to send Heath and Scandrick on some blitzes without compromising our defense. Playing man is a must and I'm sick of seeing open receivers in the middle of the field.

Overall, our defense needs to play with the same urgency it did in our first matchup.

Lets do it boys!!!

Foles is the real deal.

Numerous teams pursued Foles when he was on the market.

So I think he's been held back with the fact that Vick is still around.

I don't know.
This defense is so bad...

My hope is that they can keep Shady under control and they keep four rushing (effectively) and keep 7 in the backfield.

I didn't say I expect this to happen- this is my hope.

Foles is a good QB- he has been proving it week after week... darnit.

What do you mean the INTs came when he was throwing the ball away? Don't you throw it way out of bounds when you throw it away?

I don't know how to grade foles, even as an eagles fan

to be honest, you can't really grade him this season unless he somehow wins the superbowl. You have to give him a full season next year and see where it goes.

Right now though, the 3rd round QBs (foles and Wilson) are severely outplaying the first 2 picks of the 2012 NFL draft (luck and RG3)

amazing.

he said incompletions, not INTs

also foles rarely tries to throw a risky pass, hence the low INT rate.

I'd like to see how he plays in a shoot out where he has to sling the ball into tight coverage

I picked him up after the 7 TD game. My QBs are Flaco and Ryan. I was hurting.

But I tell you what, I sat him the first game I had him to see what he would do after that 7 TD game. He blew doors. Hes started ever since. This sunday, He will be starting in the championship game. Hes not the reason I am so successful. But Foles has made me a believer, hes for real and Vicks done in philly. Hes not an elite tier 1 QB, but hes on the next lower level, I have no qualms about owning an Eagirl, and starting him with confidence. I am sure Chip Kelly has no qualms about it either. Hes definately a good QB and will get better. Bodes ill for Dallas long term.

He went to the same high school as Drew Brees (Austin Westlake) if anyone wants to send a scout down there.

[p/e09Play man and let Carr beat the snot out of Jackson just like last time. Desean is the biggest wussy in the game.

The D needs to control their gaps to keep McCoy from the big runs.

As for Foles he is a solid QB that has been incredibly lucky with his deep ball. Between overturned picks, tipped balls and mistimed jumps he has about 5 more TDs and 6 fewer INTs than he should have.

Justin tucker, whos the ravens kicker who seems to never miss, was nick fole's teammate there

that high school is definitely on the NFL radar now

Coaching. Chip Kelly had adjusted his offense to fit Foles rather than forcing Foles to fit his offense.

This. I live in Los Angeles and watch more than my fair share of Pac-12 football. Foles was good but never this good. He is in a great offense and getting some fantastic coaching from Chip Kelly.

he had one tipped ball against green bay which turned into a score

and he had one overturned pick against Arizona which was a terrible decision and pass, however the flag was thrown before he threw the ball FYI

He also had a TD called back against Washington because celek was tackled just shy of the marker and downed at the 1 yard line, and a throw to cooper where it was ruled down at the 1, but during the replay it showed cooper was clearly in, but chip decided not to challenge it

So with those 4 plays, he'd have 2 more TDs, and 2 more INTs, and one less TD, so overall 1 TD and 2 INT difference from his current stats, not a huge difference

basically the message here is QBs can get very lucky on some bad throws, and have bad luck such as ball bouncing from a receiver into a defender's hands.

in a 16 game season however, murphy's law balances out and the stats should be accurately displayed

im definitely not counting out the cowboys chances of winning this week without romo, kyle orton started 70 games, had some success, and is easily one of the better backups in the league.

I think this game will come down to whose defense isn't as bad, because both defenses are terrible LOL

wouldn't surprise me at all if garrett humbles up, runs a ball control offense with murray, and uses orton to throw quick slants and so forth to dez, while throwing some play actions to witten, who always kills the eagles
