This is some conjecture only; with Neal's body type would other teams [certainly 3/4 teams] dismiss Neal
looking for more specific types? I like him a lot but am thinking it'll taking sometime for him to work out
disengagement from offensive lineman. He does have hustle and Marinelli loves that.
I like him better then Ivie.

The next few games will be telling. I did not see the switch to DT coming.

But I'm getting Jay Ratliff vibes.....

He's been playing both with the injuries on the DL. He covered for Paea when he was out a week or so ago.

He is a lot better at DE than he is DT. He doesn't know the handwork and doesn't have the upper body strength to disengage. He is much more effective working out in space.

It would be really difficult to keep all these Dline guys. Because we have no real dominant DE we are actual going to have like 6 or 7 DEs alone, not counting Collins or Paea, so not sure how he squeezes in unless we cut Mayowa.

We are destined for surprise cuts or trades. I could maybe see Neal making it. The guy is quite athletic and hungry and smart. Good traits! He just doesn't have the desired height and body type.

I'm not saying big trades in terms of return, but maybe we end up getting a 6th rounder or something from our surplus.

We have a lot of d-lineman that might be able to serve as backups somewhere. Our real problem is aside from Maelik we don't have any guys you'd classify as above-average starters. We do have depth.

I think it's possible. One factor in all this is Damontre Moore and David Irving won't count on the 53 because of their suspensions. Moore's is for 2 games and so that will be another hurdle for whoever makes the 53 out of this group, and then 2 games later with Irving. Joey Ivie and Lenny Jones are a couple guys in the same boat. Let's see who wins the job. Keep in mind it might be temporary.
