I'm terrible with anything related to the salary cap so I'm lost on this. I keep hearing about how it's essentially "3 one year deals" on top of each other, can someone explain what this means? Can we basically cut him at any time with minimal cap hit?

per ESPN

2006 - $5 mil signing bonus - $5 mil roster
2007 - $5 mil salary - $3 mil roster
2008 - $4 mil salary - $3 mil roster

something like that

Basicly the cowboys would be respnosible for the prorated signing bonus, so if they cut him after this season, they would take a 3.33mil hit on the cap for th rest of the signing bonus and would not have to give him the 3 mil roster bonus if they cut him before the bonus deadline.

If that's the way they're reporting it, they need to be more careful... the latter figures in 2006 is base salary, NOT a roster bonus...

They put most of the cap hit this year (6 million+), so the latter two years will be much easier to swallow if they have to take a hit.
