Can The Cowboys Run The East With Only Seven Wins?

The Dallas Cowboys sit comfortably at 3-8 just waiting to strike. On Monday night, they will be traveling to Washington to face a Commanders team that has won three of their last five games, which by NFC East standards - is red hot! For Dallas, just winning a football game would be satisfying right now, but a win against the first place Commanders (that just doesn't sound right) would give Cowboys fans a newfound sense of hope that they haven't felt since we all talked about it this time last week. But hey, if nobody wants to pick up the shovel and throw dirt on this Cowboys team, then they might as well climb on out and take a look around.

Should the New York Giants lose to the New York Jets on Sunday, the narrative for the Monday night's big NFC East matchup will be how the winner would take a much needed step towards making a run at the division. And this is a likely scenario. The Jets are currently in a dog fight for a wild card spot in the AFC. Four teams are tied at 6-5 with the Jets being one of those teams. This is a big game for them. They just came off a big win against Miami where Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for four touchdowns and the Jets defense only allowed 12 total rushing yards. This is a very balanced Jets team who is in the top 10 in points for offense and defense. The Giants are going to have their hands full.

The Philadelphia Eagles, who are non-winners of three straight games, are playing the New England Patriots. That's all I'm going to say about that...

I'd rather just lose and get a higher draft pick.

If this were a situation where we would be getting Romo back say Week 17, then I might think differently. But this team squeaking into the playoffs with Cassel as the QB and Romo being a severe "maybe" by say the NFC Champ game isn't worth it to me in giving up a high draft pick.

but getting a higher draft pick that could turn into a bust will?

Yes it "Could" turn into a bust but at the same time the higher pick gives us "better chance" of getting an impact player.....or darn I dream a "franchise QB"?

"Could" a lot of things but winning 2-3 meaningless games is just that....meaningless.

I would rather make the playoffs and get trounced than not make the playoffs at all. Any playoff season gives you hope regardless how it turns out.

A high draft slot and an easier 2016 schedule is worth a lot more to the franchise than "hope."

No draft pick is guaranteed to pan out and no schedule is easier they're all tough this is the NFL. Teams that are good this season may not be good next season and vice versa. Just look at the Cowboys this season compared to last season. Many were picking the Cowboys to win the East prior to this season and many had Washington finishing in the basement. Washington is now in position to win the East while the Cowboys are in position to end up in the basement.

Finishing a season, where you weren't trying to WIN, is "Meaningless".

I will always root for the Cowboys to win, I just can't root against them. But, at least the losses will be easier to take for the rest of the year. I'll just say, "Well, we lost, but at least we get to draft higher"
