Can we cut Kyle Orton asap?

Looks like there is a clause in the CBA that allows it.

I guess maybe I just don't remember any player being forced to return money because of retirement.

Aikman retired and it put Dallas in a world of hurt because of the dead money which would seem to have to be his accelerated bonus.

Maybe health issue retirements are non-recoverable?

Perhaps it's an option but is rarely exercised. Maybe teams try and are denied. I just can't recall a team actually making it happen but I wouldn't file that away as something worth remembering so maybe I just can't recall. I don't think it's as easy saying "pay up" because all transactions have to go through the arbitration process or whatever.

I think the Patriots are still battling Hernandez's guarantees and that's about as clear cut as it gets.

Guess we'll see how it plays out. I don't expect it to be a simple request and that's that.

Both Ricky Williams and Barry Sanders had to pay back bonus money because they retired (early).

Also Aikman was released before he retired.

Good call on Aikman

I think this sort of thing, i.e. players having to give back bonues doesn't happen that often is because I think either A: Like in Aikman's situation the player is cut first (which probably happens most of the time), finds no suitors or simply decides it's not worthwhile and retires. Or B: the player retires at the conclusion of their contract.

I seriously would sign Vince Young at this point and let him learn the offense before Camp starts. I don't trust Weeden at all if Tony had to miss some games.

Weeden played in 23 games in the last two seasons with Cleveland. Vince Young signed with Cleveland on May 1st and didn't last 23 DAYS before they released him.

The guy is a grade A class one flameout. NASA should study him.

I think Vince would at least keep the offense in good position if he just uses his legs on third down to keep the chains moving. Weeden just looks like he's gonna be a walking interception trying to force something that's not there.

I don't know why the Cowboys won't at least kick the tires with Vince. I thought he looked really good last preseason with Green Bay. He should've made that roster.
Which camp? 2018? How do you think Young is going to learn an offense in 3 months? Green Bay cut him with no backup on the team, they would have rather found any QB off the street than Vince Young. Cleveland used him for voluntary mini camp because they only had one healthy QB, they didn't even keep him for OTAs. Vince Young is beyond done in the NFL.

Oh you won't see any images of me like the one's you will find on KO...

I would think his QB Coach is his boss... wouldn't you?

I think we all know Jerry is their boss. Maybe that's not how its suppose to be but if Orton is having problems with this organization he's not going to Wade. He's going to Jerry.

So what did we accomplish in 2010 winning those meaningless games being 1-7. Just a lower draft pick and false confidence in Jason.

There's a legit argument there.

Btw, just to clean up some history that seems have evolved around here.
Dallas was 1-4 and leading the Giants game when Romo broke his collarbone...so maybe heading for 2-4. That sux, but was not insurmountable.
Anyway, the 1-7 thing was when they dumped Wade, I think.
Kitna began at 1-4 and with a two TD lead (after Dez kickoff TD). They probably felt there was hope.

It wasn't just hope. It was a team that had quit on Wade turning it on again. Folks can cry about getting a worse draft pick but long term it is far better if everyone plays all out. No one is going to develop playing alongside quitters. Play hard no matter who is at QB

Why don't we wait and see exactly what's up before we call him a "slob." Obviously, he's very seriously considered retirement and might still go that way. It can be a hard decision for players to walk away from the game (and the green), so give him a break and allow him to make up his mind.

If he's not committed, Dallas doesn't need him. If he is, then he's fine as the No. 1 backup for this season unless two other QBs prove that they need to be kept on the roster.

I thought Zordon's term "slob" was going very easy on him.

WHAT WORLD DO WE LIVE IN WHEN A PLAYER REALLY DOESN'T CARE IF HE IS GOING TO VOLUNTARY CAMP OR NOT OR WHETHER A COACH'S COMMUNICATION IS NOT ANSWERED?
WHAT KIND OF WORLD DO WE LIVE IN WHEN A PLAYER DOES NOT GIVE AN INDICATION IF HE IS GOING TO BE IN CAMP OR NOT?
WHEN DID ORTON BECOME SUCH A MUST-HAVE COMMODITY THT WE HALF TO PUT UP WITH THIS TYPE OF COYNESS?
ZORDON, UPON MY COMMAND, GIVE ME SOMETHING MORE STRIDENT AND SPECIFIC THAN SLOB! ORTON IS AN IDIOT, A LAZY COY AND UNGRATEFUL SHELL OF A PLAYER. IGNORANT AND TAKING THE TEAM FOR GRANTED.

DUMP THIS GUY WHO REALLY DOESN'T KNOW IF HE WANTS TO BE AT VALLEY RANCH OR NOT.
BELIEF ME, THIS WILL SET A BAD EXAMPLE FOR THE YOUNGER PLAYERS.

Ok, i half to go now. The women's Urkranian soccer team is on tv.

Lose Orton to retirement/cut and then Romo's back goes out again and what does that mean?

Lottery pick!

We probably should find out what is going on in Kyle's life before jumping to any conclusions.

Yeah, he might be too busy watching "Housewives of Atlanta" on TV or heping his grandmother move to another city or something.
