I think it is asking too much. Murray likely won't be here next season and I'm not sure Romo has more than 3 seasons, and Witten with 1-2.

That's about it.

Look at the 9ers..

3 appearances in the NFC title game and they are watching TV for the playoffs and big changes are coming to them..

Seattle may or may not repeat and we may have a say in that..

So the window closes As The World Turns.

This team needs to win now if at all possible.

They are longggggg overdue.

Well run organizations keep the windows open for longer stretches..

Patriots
Colts (w manning)
Denver
Steelers
Giants

It boils down to romo...pretty simple...the question is how long can he play at this level or a level close to this one

Romo will play until he's 38 at least, that I'm sure of. Question is, whether he plays until he's 39 or maybe even 40.

And Witten is only 32. Why on earth would Witten only play until he's 33 or 34?

Hard to say how long any player may go. Peyton is 38 still producing same with Brady at 37 and Brees at 35

I know this is dumb, but just looking at that picture makes me want to lock Murray up for a while. Let's keep this group of guys together for as long as we can.

If there's a guy that's good enough to defy the normal career progression of a running back after having a workhorse type season, it's DeMarco. I say let him prove he can do it. He's still young and you can't find a more complete back in the NFL when you add in running ability, pass catching ability, the ability to block, etc. Plus, you get just about the best teammate anyone could ever hope for.

After the 09 season we thought the Cowboys would be a perennial playoff team for a number of years but it turned into a very unexpected 5 year drought. With Romo aging and having back issues and with Dez and Murray up for big contacts it's hard to say what the next 5 years will be like. This season was very unexpected and the Cowboys have to validate it next year with another good season or this year will be looked at as a fluke. The next 5 years is going to depend a lot on the QB position and it's not very likely Romo will still be playing at a high level in 4-5 years or that he will still be the starter. In 5 years Romo will be pushing 40 so the Cowboys have to start making plans for life without him in the next year or 2 or the long-term future of the team won't be very bright.

Is that really asking too much?

I'd be thrilled with another 5 years of high level play out of this group.

Add in Smith, Fred, and Martin to that group and I'd be so super ecstatic about things.

Witten has taken quite a physical beating since entering the league, and has been playing in the NFL since he was 20 years old. I don't think it's out of the question that he is done within two seasons.

Been saying this for years. 38 to 40. At least thru 38.

It is a great picture. Who took it I wonder?

Something about it is real...... no enhancements, no posing, just them sitting there. That picture "Caught the moment", for sure. And now that moment will last forever. I cant articulate it, but its just a great pic. one of those pictures....

There's no way Romo, Witten, or Murray will be here for 5 more years. I think that Romo has, at most, 3 season left after this one, maybe 4 but that's pushing it (and will he still be effective 4 years from now?). Witten has about 3-4 years left, but we can already see him declining. There's no way Murray will be effective in 5 more years, no modern RBs last until that age and are still effective, especially after a 400 carry season. Dez will almost certainly be here for more than 5 years, but I don't see the others being here that long. I think you window will shut the year after next
