Can we reevaluate the Parsons trade again?

Agreed. The earliest we can even start to make a good estimate is next preseason.

I love Williams and I’m happy he’s on the team but the problem with what happened, in my opinion, is how Jerry handled it and the timing. He blew up this entire season.

He doesn’t the trade in the spring and I think people would have been more accepting because we could have worked on he defense before the bye week, lol
Jets weren’t willing to let him go before the season. Cowboys tried to get him.

We got better up the middle, against the run, and interior pass rush

We lost elite speed and pursuit off the edge

We also gained the intangibles of leadership, work ethic, and professionalism

We lost a guy who was “me first” and took naps on a training table during a game. Some would call that addition by subtraction

That said— our podcasting game is also considerably weaker now

Big game this week It will be interesting to see how Willams reacts. Hopefully Dak can keep playing at a high level and doesn’t slip into the twilight zone.

It’s actually

Williams, Clark and swapped a 2nd for a first.

For parsons.

But yes. That said yes. The trade for Q redeemed it 100%.

The biggest issue with trading parsons was you aren’t guaranteed at all to draft anybody on his level. And you may draft busts.

But you trade for Q. It’s a guaranteed all pro level DT. So it worked out very well.
Getting a surefire all pro caliber DT is huge because we’ve also proven that we suck at drafting that position.

It’s actually Parsons and a 2nd for Clark, Williams and a 1st. Depending on how Dallas and Green Bay finish the season, those two picks (our 2nd and their 1st) may not have much separation.

We also may have a significantly worse first round pick in 2027, unless Dallas and Green Bay both make the playoffs next season.

It’s certainly not cut and dry.

I know Jerry got blasted for trading Parsons. But can we reevaluate Williams, Clark AND a first round pick for Parsons? :lmao:
yes we can, its very simple. dont worry i brought charts and facts.

You can NOT pay Parsons and lose, which is what we are doing

OR

You can pay him tons of money and still lose.

We re still losing. so him being on the team or not being on the team is not making a difference.

As good as Parsons is, Q affects the D to a much higher degree. I'm praying that Jerry has learned this.

Against the 2 win Raiders

No! It's still too early to evaluate this trade. It might take the next couple of drafts to be over to properly evaluate this trade. At least wait until after next year's draft. Then we will have a much better idea of what we reaped in the trade.

Stats mean less than nothing. Williams dominated the line of scrimmage all night.

From our end of it, I like the return and very optimistic Eze is going to be a stud. What we do with the draft picks will determine the overall measuring stick, outside of seeing how the drafted players perform. For GB, anything short of a Super Bowl in the next couple of years is a fail

Still too early to make judgement. Packers have to win the sb in 3 years to be successful, Cowboys need to rebuild their defense, which is still on proces

Some of us said all along that getting a couple 1st is great but what you do with those picks matters most. Given how quickly things went south and knowing Jerry had no intention of trading him in the offseason they did ok getting some picks for a star player. Now using some of the draft capital to immediately shore up the defense was a great move by the team. They still need to draft well or its all for not much.

As we kept trying to tell all the "Draft a CB in the 1st" guys, the DT position affects all other positions on D to a much greater degree than any other position.

Given the recent track record on defensive line drafting, I would give them zero chance of finding another Micah or Q. So in that regard, glad they traded for him. Just wish we could have had both. That would be a hell of a defense, along with some of the LB additions coming now and next year.
