Everyone was screaming that Scandrick sucks and Jerry made a mistake resigning him and now he's everyone's favorite corner. Byron Jones got a touchdown caught on him during preseason by some guy who probably didn't make the team. The CB position is complex and it takes years to learn the position. I fail to see what was so controversial about my statement. You don't really get to see many CB's capabilities until they have a few years in the league, which is right about the time they are up for a second contract.

He wanted Dunbar cut huh lol....probably one of the more impressive players we had on Sunday night. Thank goodness fans don't run teams lol.

I hope you guys don't think one game erases all. Both Mo and JAGbar need to stack them together. Week after week starting in Philly. THAT is how you truly quiet disbelievers like me. Stack those chips.

no team is picking a CB or Safety (Mo and Byron), like the Cowboys did in the 1st round, with the thought process of that player's 2nd contract as when they will be ready and deliver - makes zero sense. maybe i'm missing your point

I haven't rewatched the game and I had company over so at times had some unfortunate distractions.

But from what I saw he looked fantastic.

I was naturally very curious to see where ODB was lined up pre snap most plays. As the game progressed I felt better when I saw it was Mo across from him.

Long way to go but what an encouraging start for an often maligned player.

Toruk; as you said." its a long ways to go"
it is encourageing indeed considering the way this board felt entering camp

We can't "tap the brakes" on Mo having played well against the Giants since, y'know, it's already happened. We've already driven by it. It's in our rearview mirror.

Your talent evaluation is severely lacking. I told you this many times during the offseason. You jump onto a bandwagon of "so and so" player sucks because of their past and they have no possible way to change it, they will just suck for all eternity. Now Bleu Star save room for this crow that Run dmc and Mo Claiborne will serve you all season long. Once you have repented of your sins I will welcome you with open arms into the brotherhood

I understand lol. I'm just saying I would've hate to see what this team would've looked like without Dunbar and Mo on Sunday.....probably a loss.

He played really good. The dbs have huge tests coming up vs the falcons, saints, patriots.

If I were a Cowboy fan... I am... I would hang a TON of hope on McFadden and Christine Michael...

Name me more than a handful of corners that come into the league and immediately shutdown the best talent the league has to offer, which was essentially the expectations set of Mo. Revis, Hayden, and who else? Sherman is questionable because he is surrounded by guys like Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor. You can expect them to deliver unbelievable results, but prepare to be disappointed.

Everyone was screaming how Claiborne sucks and needs to be traded, and now he looks to be rounding into form, which is typical of the cornerback position. The point is the CB position is hard to learn and you won't see what corners are really capable of until they are a few years into the league. Rookie contracts are only for a few years, so you might only start to see what they are capable of towards the end of that rookie contract. You either make a choice to take a gamble and extend them early like Jerry did with Scandrick or you let it play out and if they perform and hit the market, you either pay them big money or let them walk.

Yeah, I was impressed with Claiborne. A corner having a game like he had is great to see.

As for Dunbar, sorry, not anointing him to anything. He could become a ghost or have 1 or 2 receptions every other week and it would hardly surprise me.

He started to show signs that he was a player last season before he got hurt.

Folks, if you look around the NFL - you will notice that all of the top notch corners and safeties have some of the best defensive lines and pass rushes in front of them.

Much of the criticism to Claiborne, Carr, Church and Wilcox has been a bit unfair in my eyes because the last several seasons, the Cowboys have not generated much of a pass rush. If Marinelli can still get pressure on the quarterback without the guns of Hardy and Gregory, the Cowboys secondary WILL get much better.

It is going to be tough the next couple of weeks.
