Can you guess the player from the scouting report?

I'm normally a BPA guy, but QB's are different. Everybody overdrafts them, so you're never going to pick one where his rating says he should go. If you wait, you're just overdrafting a less talented player.

It all comes down to your assessment of talent. Some guys are talented but go later because they went to smaller schools, had injuries or bad seasons. A lot of people think Wentz is as good as Goff and Lynch. If that's the Cowboys, I'm all for trading down however far they think is safe and getting a QB as well as another day two pick, or so. I'd just hate to get cute and lose our next franchise passer.

How many times have Cleveland drafted a QB cause they need a franchise guy? How many times did it work?

That's BS.....everybody over drafts QBs haha. ....guess Brady was over drafted in the 6th round maybe they could have got him in the 7th or maybe undrafted.

I'm not wanting to lose out on a HOF player for a QB

That's why I laugh when posters try beat their chests over a player they didn't like flaming out, referencing some obscure scouting report.

Scouts are wrong all the time.

I think this review shows 2 things:

1. How tough it is to evaluate QB's in general.

2. How much Rodgers grew and became a better QB just through mental reps sitting behind Brett Favre.

That's why we need to draft a guy at #4, assuming the scouts give the thumbs up. That will give him the time and mental reps he will need when he finally gets behind center after Romo is gone.

But Rodgers went much later than 4 - because of those evaluations. Goff isn't getting poor evals.

The difficulty in evaluating QBs is why I prefer a guy later in the first. Too much top talent at positions that are less difficult to project when you are picking 4th

What I see is, even in light of Romo's status and recent history, many of us don't want to invest that 4th pick in a quarterback. I think that says less, however, about how we feel about getting our heir apparent, and more about how awful the talent is at QB in this draft. That's been my issue all along and even with Wentz soaring up boards, I still feel that way. I don't think there is a QB in this draft worth a top 10 pick.

So, since QBs are hard to hit on in the draft, you want to trade back and make it even harder since the top talent at the QB position is off the board? That is just being scared.

you might be right I certainly dont know but the next few months evaluators will focus
on this QBs and a more clear idea will come out . I have heard a few comment this current
crop is under rated I dont know

Oh I totally agree with that. Personally, I am really not a fan of Lynch at all and when he is the #2 rated QB on most boards, it tells me all I need to know about the QB talent in this draft. Like you said, however, all sorts of things could happen. Wentz could follow up his great Bowl Game with a stellar week of practices and game in the Senior Bowl and jump into the top 5. Who knows...

No. Point I was making is that the best QB in the league wasn't evaluated well.

We have many examples of high picks. Consensus high picks who stank.

It is the biggest crap shoot position in the league. Jemarcus Russel, Vince Young, David Carr, Joey Harrington, Tim Couch, Akili Smith, Ryan Leaf... Elite picks who sucked.

Every position has flops but few so many as QB

no.DT and CBs bust more in 1st RD.QBs are better 50/50 which i would gladly take for such a important position.

AFC scout: "He's a system quarterback. 3-, 5-, 7-step guy. Can't create on his own. Panics under pressure. Gets flustered easy. I don't think there's a quarterback in the draft worthy of a first-round pick. I'm dead serious. None of them are worth it.(this guy should be fired on wrong he was)

Uhhhh....

Wouldn't EVERY QB be a 'system QB' if they are taking 3, 5 and 7 step drops? That's kinda the basics of the forward pass.

Who wrote this? George Halas.

I remember what they said about Romo.

Actually, there were a lot of scouts that liked him. The draft grade on him was 6th round. Some had him going as high as the 4th round. That's why I was surprised he went to UDFA. I think they were just afraid of rawness and coming from a small school.

But, he worked hard at it and had the best head coach when it came to developing QB's. I thought Joey Harrington was going to be a great QB, but reading his article in the Players Tribune...he just didn't have the attitude for it. Boller was rushed too fast.

I think it goes to show that starting a QB right away is likely a bad move. Rodgers got the chance to sit and hone his craft and learn. Harrington, Boller and others did not.
