Teams always defend the Cowboys in two-deep coverage to take away the deep pass, whether with Romo or not. The fact that we rarely attack the middle of the field is the biggest weakness in this offense.

I was rewatching the Skins game and I noticed a formation tendency we've played into on offense.

Every one of Prescott's pass attempts came in shotgun formation. The only exception was when he lined up under center and bootlegged and rolled out. Otherwise, every snap under center was a run play.

Teams are going to start playing Prescott under center the way defenses adjusted to guys like Kapernick and RGIII playing the run-option pass. Simply have a guy attack the QB (i.e. not biting on the run/pass option). In other words, that play-action bootleg out isn't going to fool teams too much moving forward.

I noticed this in the preseason. I believe that it has to do with the QB's comfort under center and turning his back to the coverage. Prescott didn't play under center in college much if any. He's a rookie and the coaches are putting him in situations that work best for him. Despite the disdain for the staff they actually are doing a good job with him thus far.

But, as you said, coordinators have already noticed this and will act accordingly. The more he develops, the better the running game will become.

The beauty of tendencies is that they can be used against the opponent that thinks they know what will happen next,,,
