Cap Space with Dak now signed

That Cap figure doesnt NOT include the Carry over cap from 2020 Also the exact Cap hit has NOT been set for 2021
So without any restructures we will still have close to 30 Mil
Carry Over was 25.4 million.
Dallas signed Dak to basically 3 yrs Jerry has that window to bring a SB
We will see how serious the Jones are with WHO they sign in FA
They have the Money and they can restructure Coop and Martin without carrying a bad contract.
With our picks we will need at least $10 Mil to sign After that Dallas can have $50. mil to play with. If they want they can sign Dalvin Tomlinson DT and Kenau Neal S Those two FA already makes this Defense better.

It does include the rollover cap. The total cap liabilities it shows for the Cowboys is over $200 million and the projected salary cap is $180 million. The Cowboys would be around $20 million over the cap were it not for the rollover cap.

Extending players that are older and becoming injury prone would be stupid. The team would be stuck paying them a lot of money when they should be getting rid of those players.

Yes, extending those players was going to be necessary if Dak played under the tag, now that that's not happening the team doesn't have to extend them, obviously they can and it'd give more money for free agents, but I get the feeling that the Cowboys won't be big players in the free agent market.
Which to me is great, given their poor history of free agent signings...

Not to worry, for the "don't sign Dak" guys, there's still "I told you so" comments they can say if Dak doesn't "bring home the bacon".

It's just petty though isn't it and I don't want to be like that. What has been has gone.

Most people, like myself, just want the team to have the best chance of winning and being successful. I disagree over the contract but it's done now and there's no trade clause so the team is all in and up to their eyeballs in it if I like it or not

Dak’s cap hit is 22.2 mil this year.

if the cap is 180. His cap hit % is 12.3

if the cap is 185. His % is 12

Now where were all the posters saying he would take up 20% of the cap?

And where are all the posters who were saying that a QB can’t make more than 13% of the cap or it will kill a teams chances?

Or could it be that, like some of us have said for years. The contract and “APY” was meaningless but it was about the structure of the deal.....

Things that make you go hmmmm
that sounds ok but till we see the cap hit for all 4 years we can not judge it.
And we cant assume the cap is going to go up, right now we dont know if fans will be allowed to go to stadiums or if they will be full capacity.
if not the owners will still siphon off the cap for their money.

I mean, seriously, if they don't, they are going to just look stupid. You don't sign this deal without planning to go all in. Would make zero sense.

Don't forget who you're talking about here. I don't think they're going to change their approach at all. They haven't changed it to this point because they truly believe they're doing it the right way. It would take a complete shift in paradigm for Jerry/Stephen to suddenly jump aggressively into the FA market.

yeah jones boys are all in, I dont know about the other players, like the ones making 1-5 mil a year.
But dak got what he wanted, and they cant trade or tag him lol, so we are stuck with him no matter how he does.
To me jones not only caved, it was a record cave in! There is no digging out of this one.

Jones has his hand picked triplets, and they are all paid big, now to see how they do.

Also, now we have a tag available, but I can't think of anyone else we would use it on.

I have little doubt we will see Cooper and DLaw contracts restructured to free up a good amount in additional cap space.

I agree, but the cap could be negotiated up. I have heard it may even be flat vs 2020 which would put us around $19.5MM in space before restructures.
