STOP RESTRUCTURING!!!! We've messed up in the past by just pushin huge chunks of money to the future... and because of it we had to cut the great 94... (it was the right decision) lets just suck it up and chew on these stupid big contracts now... Lets FINALLY plan for the future...
They had plenty of cap space to keep Ware. It just wasn't worth the long term cost to keep Ware on a team that is more than 1 player (Ware) away from contenting in 2014.

Is Austin our only 2015 dead money?
Yes.

There are usually some minor dead money additions like a udfa that gets a 10k bonus but does not make the team, but the vast majority of 2015 dead money will be from Austin release.

It's a drastic improvement from a couple of years ago when it was 30M and this year which is about 20M.

Yes, please stop posting substantive, informational posts that add to the level of discussion! The Zone should only be filled with empty projections of failure!

i appreciate xwalker's posts but don't need to hear about how much money we'll have if we restructure half the roster. what purpose does that serve other than to give folks a false sense of hope that the cap is fine? plus, if the cowboys were interested in restructuring all of those contracts they would have done it by now...free agency has started.

It takes less than 1 day to restructure a contract.

There is a real money cost to restructuring contracts. Teams don't do it until they need the space.

The point of the potential cap space is that the Cowboys were not forced to cut Ware or Austin and have flexibility. Any reports otherwise are false.

I never said they couldnt have resigned ware... my whole point was if dallas would stop restructuring Then maybe we would be able to keep some of our most beloved players at decent prices... no ones talking bout it but if u look at how much dallas paid ware over his career he has been flat out robbed...
