How many threads does this board need to bash Romo?

Holy Hell...

Romo is Romo, he plays a care free style of ball and mistakes don't bother him. I hope he stays that way.

Banks is right, Romo needs to make better decisions. 2 Redzone picks in the endzone in 3 games is not making good decisions. What is really irritating is he usually makes those bone head plays when we have a lead and are about to add on some more points. Those types of plays change the whole momentum of the game and put the team in bad situations.

Obviously Romo is a great QB and we are lucky to have him but I dont think he is above criticism.

Constructive criticism does not equal bashing......they are not synonymous.;)

I think criticism of Romo at this point is just absurd.

"His decision making has to improve"

Really? What about the 36 touchdowns he threw last year.

The guy is perhaps the best quarterback in the league, and is being told he needs to improve his decision making.

No, what is absurd is that people can't bring up the negative things that Romo does fairly consistency with out getting called chicken littles or trolls. Romo has a problem with making poor decisions at critical junctions...he is a great QB, he is top 3 in the league but he is also meausred against, Aikman and Roger....

Great Romo threw 36 touchdowns last year, wonderful! And he was duely praised for it...so when he throws 19 interceptions he duely deserves the criticism that comes along with it...and just as he recieves most of the credit on most of the TD passes he is going to recieve most of the criticim on most of the INTs.

You people who get all up in a defensive hissy any time someone is not patting Romo's butt need to wake up and join the rest of us in reality.

I don't ever expect Romo to get rid of the occasional stupid interceptions (though I think he will continue to make sure they are fewer and fewer) but no matter how few they become I still am going to say "what a dumb play" when he makes one, just as I did watching Aikman. Its just the way it is.

To clarify-watch that INT in the endzone again-both TO and Witten were in the SAME area. Obviously, someone ran the wrong route, resulting in a busted play. Lots of QBs throw INTs when busted plays happens.

Pt being that ALL elements have to work for a play to be executed properly.

Yeah, it is wonderful. Only 11 quarterbacks in history have done that. Decision making? Please.

About his 19 interceptions... I'd say if he's throwing around 2:1 touchdowns to interceptions, he's doing a very good job. I'm willing to accept that as part of his risk-taking play style. I really am. Mainly because we win so much and dominate the opposition week in and week out because of it.

Go ahead.

I'll just be content knowing he'll be sure to throw at least twice as many touchdowns as he will interceptions.

Romo on his INT
"It's not so much a testament to my maturity as it is a testament to my understanding of the game," Romo said later. "As soon as I started to get a sense of the game, I realized, 'I'm not gonna throw for 500 yards tonight. And that's OK.' So I approached it from that mindset."
Reading this quote, it's obvious that he was pressing early because he expected the Packers to score a lot more points than they did.

My big problem with all the negativity thrown around here is that alot of distortions end up getting blown out of proportion.

For example, alot of people said how Romo forces alot of passes into TO. WHERE's the EVIDENCE that says so? Every game I've seen, he's forced it into Witten more than anyone else.

And alot of people here said how his pick in that Houston preseason game was when he forced it into TO. It was to Bennett(or Curtis) he forced it into. Why can't anyone get their facts straight?

Banks is a homer announcer who works for the Giants.
A homer announcer...something the Cowboys do not have.
All that stuff Banks said could have been said about Eli last year before the playoffs...he would be wise to remember that.

I don't think Banks is far off.

I do think too many people are too insecure to accept ANY constructive criticism of anybody that wears a star.

Again-even after we WIN, just so much negativity on every little detail sprays all over this board. Forget Romo, pretty much the remaining 53 roster squad AND the coaching staff will get thrown under the bus, and tons of distortions get thrown way out of proportion. I mean despite a stellar defensive effort, there's a bunch of posts saying our defense sucks wind and Brian Stewart should be fired b/c we gave up JUST ONE long pass play to Driver.

Frankly-I'm sick of it. Every other teams MBs I visit, they know how to ENJOY their wins.

There is nothing inconsistent with what he said. Yes, Romo is awesome, but he is a ****-up as well.

Basically, how truly constructive can any criticism possibly be coming from a beat writer "constructively criticizing" a quarterback who throws for 300 yards a game with an 8.4 YPA?

Originally posted by a Giants fan GloryDayz on another sports forum:

Was listening to him earlier on Joe and Evan and they were talking about Dallas and Romo, I'm paraphrasing here...

Said these things about Romo:
"has to improve his decision making"
"has big spot mess ups"
"he had a great coach in Parcells, a very good coach in Phillips (I know I should have tuned off right tne and there), but he still makes those decisions, its not coaching"
"Championship QBs make great decisions... he hasnt done that"

Then Joe says "not yet.. but he's young though".
Banks responds by saying: "not in the present, and they are a win now team"

He goes on... "too many instances where he doesnt take care of the ball, very careless... he has too many crazy and erratic plays in him."

Then he talks about how Dallas can get away with that in the regular season, but in the playoffs, when talent level is close, they cant.. "they've got to start working on this QB now".

Based on all this Joe presumes he's not too high on Romo, so he asks if Romo is the 3rd best QB in the division... get this he says "Romo is a top 5 in the league"!!!

WOW... Can somebody explain how he could say all that about him and still call him a top 5 QB?!!!

I honestly dont get it, if he's judges QBs by pure physical talent (which never tells half the story about a QB anyways) Romo isnt exactly your prototypical QB. And if he's talking about the intangibles, he just spent like 5 minutes discussing his short comings!

WEIRD

We are not a "win now team." I'm not sure why people say this, simply not true.

Romo doesn't need to listen to anyone. His fine. If he goes out there and wins us games I don't care one bit if he throws 5 INTs and 5 fumbles in a game. The most important stat is the win-loss column for me. And I'll be a little critical once he loses a game but for now who cares.

I hear ya! It's because we are primed and are capable of winning it all now. What they overlook is that barring a major injury to Romo we are set up to be highly competitive for years to come. Most of our stars are young and our rookie classes from the last 2 or 3 years have us in position to be contenders for years to come.
