Carr Signs Contract Extension With Houston

HOUSTON (AP) -- Quarterback David Carr agreed to a contract extension with the Houston Texans on Friday, an indication the team might use its No. 1 overall pick in the draft to select Heisman Trophy running back Reggie Bush.
The Texans, who announced the extension in a news release, did not provide details, but called a 2 p.m. news conference to discuss the deal.
Texas quarterback Vince Young, a Houston native, and Bush are considered the top players in the April draft. Young, the Rose Bowl MVP after leading the Longhorns to a last-minute win over USC in the national title game, would seem to be the popular pick, but the Texans apparently are happy with Carr.
Carr has started 59 of the 64 games in Houston's four-year history. Last season, he completed 256-of-423 passes with 14 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

I think that ends all the talk about Houston drafting native son Vince Young, although I think that would have been smart from a PR and revenue standpoint. But then again you can't argue with drafting Reggie Bush.

I still think the best move is to trade the overall #1 for extra picks. But I live in Houston so I think they will go for Bush. Flashy move but I don't think he will make them better anytime soon. As for PR winning is the best cure, fans will not care who you drafted if your winning.

8 million reasons why the Texas will draft Bush. LOL
:hammer:

Now, let's see the talks get wings of a trade with New Orleans so Sean payton can get Tony Romo.

Same here. Move down a little, grab D'Brickashaw Ferguson and add some pics.

I'll take any day 1 pick from Payton if he wants Romo.

Sold!

Hell I'd take their 4th round pick @ #98 so I have 4th rounder again.

Never happen though.

I agree with winning cures a lot but you still have to look at the fact Carr takes too many sacks although I don't think he's a horrible QB. Vince Young is so confident though and people love that about star atheletes.

Carr doesn't "take too many sacks". He has no offensive line. His protection is absolutely pathetic, it's amazing that he's managed to even stay alive.

With Kubiak coming from Denver I don't look for him to draft huge offensive lineman. No way he passes on Young AND Bush. No way.

the 1st 3 picks are easy now.

Bush to Houston
Lienhart to New Orleans
Young to Tenn (with them trying their backup to somebody like the Jets)

If he wants to make the best team that he can, he should pass on both Bush and Young, well he should try and trade down 3 slots are so. Bush or Young isn't what this team needs. If he doesn't want Ferguson either they should try to trade further down in the draft and add at least an additional 2nd and 3rd.

Its absolutley pathetic when a quarterback cannot even take a three step drop without taking a sack. As bad as our line is, David Car would have loved to have Dallas's offensive line.

Its the difference between a bad OL for the year, or a historically bad OL. Ours wasn't likely to ever be a worst in the league type of line. Houston's may be one of the worst lines of the last 20 years.

Nah, not me. Maybe at most for their 2nd round pick. I don't know, but with all this hype about Romo being possible Heir Apparent, I rather not find out that he perhaps a Jake Delhomme or Matt Hassleback playing for another team.

If Sean really believes him so much, maybe he should trade down a little bit and trade that one of the 1st rounders for Romo, if he gets 2 first round picks for the trade down.

If not, let Romo stay here and show that he walks the walk as much as he talks about believing himself being the guy ( As he put, once he gets his chance with Cowboys, he believes there will be no more questions about QB for Cowboys).

bush will be one of the biggest bust in nfl history mark my words. too small. very fast but nfl defenses are just as fast and stronger
this is the nfl, not the pac-10. he is a part time back, i would i would trade the pick to move down a little and then take deangelo hall. a full time back with less hype to worry about. just my opinion.

Just curious - how often has it happened that the overall number one pick has been traded for more picks? Anybody know?

Thinking recent History only.

2004, Eli Manning
2001, Michael Vick

Prior to those two I think you're going all the way to 1991 when we traded up to take Rockey Ismail, but ended up taking Russell Maryland.
