The Cowboys continue to show how dysfunctional they are they can't seem to get their stories straight as to why Carter was benched. When he was pulled during the game last Sunday it was first explained as heat related issues (it was only 80 degrees with 27% humidity) and a coaches decision. Monday Garrett said the heat wasn't the issue that Carter had a sore foot. Garrett talked about his coverage problems however Carter had excellent coverage on Woodheads TD but Rivers made a perfect throw.

Carter did have issues against the run when after getting his hands on Ryan Matthews at the line of scrimmage he couldn't stop Matthews from gaining 7 yards. There was a similar play late in the game vs KC where Carter couldn't stop Charles from picking up a first down after appearing to stop him well short of it. Although Lee had a pick-six last week he's had issues in this defense being caught out of position for TD's.

Also read on twitter that Carter was seen taking snaps in the nickel. So, while he might not start, i'm sure he'll get plenty of snaps.

I didn't say it was a good thing. He's obviously deemed to be a liability in coverage this week. I said the people calling for the firing of the people involved with the scheme and the firing of the general manger over something like this ought to settle down a bit.

I'm not looking for a firing, but I'm looking for some answers about the fact that some of our best young players seem to be regressing in this scheme.

Bruce Carter was supposed to be the new Derrick Brooks and now he's benched for a scrub we picked up off the street? What a disaster.

If I am not mistaken, that scrub was a 1st round pick. And he has a lot more experience than Bruce Carter. Just sayin.

He's also playing with his 4th team just sayin. Most felt this would be a breakout season for Carter.

LOL. Fans have been crying that players aren't held accountable and coaches favor players due to money and draft status but when the coaches decide to bench someone its a "disaster" lol. Wow.

Exactly! This is how you become a better team, point blank! It's competition. If you aren't performing, then you get sit down. I have no problem with this at all. Now we see how he responds. Does he cower our does he get mad and play better, period.

Probably just for the first snap or series.

The HC is sending a message to the team. But it's not perceived that way because... well we lost last week and everything is doom and gloom.

If he's sending messages, I wonder if Williams will be less involved.

2 redzone screw ups in 4 games, one an absolute killer.

I raised holy heck about the Ryan firing/Kiffin hiring and was almost universally bashed around here this past offseason. Kif and his antiquated 4-3 Tampa Two was the answer to all our woes, I was told. I won't say I told you so in week five. I won't. Maybe this will come around and Kiffin will be validated. But to see defenders seem so lost in what is purportedly a simple scheme...is very disheartening.

EXACTLY. No more coddling players. You have to earn your spot on this team regardless of your draft status. Its the way a team SHOULD be ran and if Claiborne and Carter are the players we EXPECT them to be? This will do them some good.

IRVING — After a poor performance against San Diego, Cowboys linebacker Bruce Carter has been demoted. Ernie Sims, the man who will replace him, said Wednesay he is starting on the weakside this Sunday against the Broncos.
“For right now, they have got me splitting reps with Bruce,” Sims said. “The way I see it right now I am a starter. I feel like I will play the whole game and do good at it.”

Carter struggled Sunday and was benched in the second half. “I was just all over the place and I kind of didn’t read my keys like I should have and I didn’t zone in and focus,” Carter said.
It proved costly for Carter, as his standing with the team has suffered.
“I definitely want to play,” he said. “I don’t take nothing away from [Sims]. Ernie is my guy. I love him like a brother. I want to go out there just as much as he does, but if they feel like, I don’t know, it’s out of my hands, I’ll say that.”

Well under that logic Will Witherspoon and London Fletcher are scrubs too......

I'm not saying Simms is a scrub but he is playing for his 4th team. I don't believe Witherspoon or Fletcher are taking over for a young player who has the potential many believe Bruce Carter has. Seeing what's happening with Carter who many believed would have a breakout season along with a few other players in this defense isn't good.
