Well under that logic Will Witherspoon and London Fletcher are scrubs too......

You know what the guy meant. Playing with 3 teams over the course of 14 years like London Fletcher is alot different than being a top 10 pick and playing on 4 different teams in 6 years

I raised holy heck about the Ryan firing/Kiffin hiring and was almost universally bashed around here this past offseason. Kif and his antiquated 4-3 Tampa Two was the answer to all our woes, I was told. I won't say I told you so in week five. I won't. Maybe this will come around and Kiffin will be validated. But to see defenders seem so lost in what is purportedly a simple scheme...is very disheartening.

It hasn't answered all of our woes but it has definitely answered our problems about generating turnovers and sacks.

Everyone knew changing schemes wasn't going to be a cakewalk. It wasn't going to be done overnight. Especially with some of our younger guys. As you see our vets like Carr, Lee,Hatcher, Ware, etc. aren't having a problem with the scheme.

Yes it is different. Being Fletcher is in his mid 30's and Sims is in his late 20's and was a lottery pick. I'm not saying Sims is all-world or even in Fletcher's league. But the guy played solid football last season filling in for our injured guys. Carter just like Claiborne are both hurt and are struggling. So we should sit through them being hurt because they are "young guys"?

I'm not saying Simms is a scrub but he is playing for his 4th team. I don't believe Witherspoon or Fletcher are taking over for a young player who has the potential many believe Bruce Carter has. Seeing what's happening with Carter who many believed would have a breakout season along with a few other players in this defense isn't good.

I get what you're saying. I want Carter to play better too. But he isn't. People can connect it to scheme if they want. But I believe a player of his caliber should be able to play in any scheme.

Personally I think talking about this defense is silly. This team will go as far as its offense. And the offense does the defense NO favors by keeping them on the field for the majority of the 2nd half this past Sunday.

This offense is the one underachieving. Not the defense.

If he's sending messages, I wonder if Williams will be less involved.

2 redzone screw ups in 4 games, one an absolute killer.

If you feel Williams is underachieving than you should bench him. I personally believe with each snap Williams is getting better. He made a mistake trying to score. It wasn't because of carelessness.

Word is, the coaches are very frustrated with Carter because he doesn't show effort at times. He was very lazy during the Chargers game. This seems to be common with UNC players these days.

Heard that on ESPN today.

As per the pass rush I give a lot of credit to Marinelli for that. As per turnovers? Outside of game 1 has it been much different? And the Gmen have been ridiculously generous with the ball in numerous games, so I don't take much from our game 1 turovers.

Don't forget: 6 Turnovers against NY; 2 Turnovers in the 3 games since then.

That was the knock on him when he was drafted. It was discussed ad nauseam after the draft by Norm and his crew on the Ticket.

I guess this story might have some basis. I hope he gets his ship together and wins back his job.

Ernie sims cannot stay healthy.
Carter will get plenty of snaps. Maybe he will respond. And if he doesn't , maybe he's not the player we hoped he was.

The offense has been an issue this season but the defense continues to disappoint despite 2 coordinator changes since 2010 and numerous personnel moves. In the past 3 seasons the Cowboys have added a $50 million corner in free agency and invested a couple of #2 picks on LB's and the 6th overall pick on another CB and the defense still can't stop anyone. Both Lee and Carter have struggled in this defense. Some players are just not suited for a particular scheme but the Cowboys continue to be a team that doesn't play to the strength of their players.

And we have no investments on offense? We just gave 100 million to Romo. This offense was bad last season and it has gotten worse yet we find ourselves talking about the defense? The defense incorporating new players to a new scheme. What is the offenses excuse for actually being WORSE than last season?

hop off the fence buddy. you're straddling it a little too hard. this is a kid we had high hopes for. along with claiborne. two of our young guns are struggling in a new scheme. this is not good.

Everyone on defense is struggling in the new scheme. Our best player (Ware) is invisible.

I am not worried about Carter, guy has unbelievable talent and this is just kiffin and garrett trying to light a fire under him and see how he responds to the benching. Saw him at UNC block three punts vs UCONN and consistently light people up in coverage, he will be back in the starting lineup at some point and don't be surprised if he doesn't make a big play this week.

If they are doing it because he is taking plays off, then that is the opposite of dysfunction. It is recognizing a problem and doing something about it.

Anyone doing any breakdown of Carter and his responsibilities and subsequent blown assignments? I know that's alot of work I just can't believe a player with his ability is now on the bench when a year ago he took over for Sean at ILB and shined.

I don't remember us having 6 turnovers against ELI LAST SEASON with Rob Ryan though....actually I seem to remember Eli having his way with our defense last season.

I just don't understand why to prove your point you have to exclude the Giants game because we had too many turnovers lol. As if they weren't forced.
