I'm not so sure about the credibility of the source, but wanted to share this.
Cash-strapped Cowboys may not be able to sign DeMarcus Ware

DeMarcus Ware, the Dallas Cowboys best player who recorded 20 sacks this year, is in his final year of his rookie contract.
It is anticipated that the Dallas Cowboys will have about $10 million in cap space for 2009. Executives of the team have already said that signing Ware to a long-term contract is a priority, but no one has set a path of how this can get done.
Talks of releasing Terrell Owens do not help the cap space problem or assist the Cowboys in freeing up cash this year to sign Ware. By next year, Ware becomes a restricted free agent and teams would love to give up draft picks for this beast.
So, how do the Cowboys sign Ware, who is likely going to require the largest contract ever for a defensive player. To compare, Jared Allen's $74 million, six year deal with the Vikings is tops in the NFL. Ware will likely bring a contract in the $12-million to $13-million a year range.
The Cowboys have numerous picks--although no first rounder---in the coming draft and have three immediate needs: backup quarterback, safety and offensive line depth. It is unlikely the Cowboys can do much in the draft this year with $10 million if they plan to sign Ware this year. Either Jerry Jones needs to restructure some contracts or the Cowboys could be risking losing their best player.
