Patriots want to trade butler turned down a contract extension last year. Has a year remaining on his contract....should we give them a 2nd rounder?

He'd be worth a 2nd rounder but how much does he want a year? 14- 16mil or so?

Not sure but we could backload it. We're going to have like 40,000,000 in cap space next offseason. I know this CB class is deep but this guy is a great player. The pats don't like guys who play hard ball.

Just looked at his contract he's only getting 2million base salary this year we could easily afford it and renegotiate long term.

Myself, I might give a 3, if he willing to work with us on the $. Doubt it though

Butler wants an absolute max payday. He will not work with anyone on the money, never mind what his agent says because lol. He's on his first contract making peanuts and has 2 rings, he only cares about cash now. He wants to be the highest paid corner in the NFL or close to it.

Also trading with the Pats is a sucker's game.

No...

The big contract shouldve been for Gilmore who is better than Butler. Don't give up a pick and a ton of money when we could've got someone better.

Kirkpatrick ever sign? That's a guy I'd like to have.

I disagree I think the saints got the best of them in the Cooks trade and the cardinals getting chandler jones for a 2nd was a steal. The patriots aren't immune to bad moves. A 1st and 3rd for cooks is insane for me. He's not even a #1 WR.

Yeah but he's like a suped up Deion Branch and those Cook kind of WRs always seem to do great in New England.

They do but lets be honest what would our board do if we gave up a 1st and 3rd for cooks? There's no denying we'd be furious.

They're swapping a bottom of the 3rd pick for an early 4th, and giving up the very last pick in the first round to get Cooks. It's not as big a payout as you are making it sound.

It's like nobody remembers that all their picks are at the butt end of every round this year.

The Pats were never going to pay Jones to stay, and they turned the pick they got for him in that trade into 2 picks that became a starting guard on their best OL in years, and a quality WR who was money in the Super Bowl. They did just fine in that trade.

Never gonna happen, Cowboys still shopping at the free agency thrift store while waiting for the draft.

Isn't that the truth, we do all of our FS shopping at the dollar store while some teams shop at Macys.

Doesn't seem like someone I want in our locker room..or on our books.
