This doesn't bother me. It's not agreed until the contract is signed. Everybody knows this.

If the guy thinks he can possibly get a better situation elsewhere and that it's worth the risk to take a look, that's completely his prerogative. NFL contracts are a one-way street as it is. He better be sure he likes his deal before he obligates himself.

For the Cowboys, if we really want him, we can always sweeten the offer. Or we can sit tight and see what happens. It looks like we're sitting tight.

It is for this reason that yesterday I said I wanted to see pen to paper.

Unfortunate.

The judgement of players that goes on based on the tweets of certain reporters and sources who themselves are playing a modern version of 'telephone' is unwarranted. Especially with a player of this caliber who is trying to maximize every million he can for what might be the last lucrative contract of his NFL career - which he should.

We will never know what exactly has been said or agreed between the player/agent(s)/front office.

I also believe other than aging vets, the idea of choosing a franchise based on merits other than money are overblown. If they do exist, they are most likely idiosyncratic (wife likes X city, has family in Y city) and not a commentary on any given team's public perception.

First thing is the money has to be right. If the money is the same, or nearly the same, then I'm sure other factors come into consideration. But a million dollars is still a million dollars. It's enough money that it makes a big difference in the quality of your life after football.

Fix the pass rush and our DB's will all play like Sherman!!.

I'm in agreement. You still need decent DBs though. They don't have to be All World. I think Carr would succeed behind an elite front 7. Not sure about Church/Wilcox though.

You talking about Carr or Robinson?

Robinson. That is not a strong way to negotiate. Here is our incentive-laden deal Patrick. But just rest assured, you will meet the playing time assurances, honest.

Indianapolis can offer him that and a lot more. Dallas still has Carr in the way and may even take yet another CB with the fourth pick. What might look like a starting job or even nickel corner job could change based off what the Cowboys do. If Carr is off the roster, it changes perception.

The decision on Carr should have been made by now. Take a cut or goodbye, makes the recruiting process much smoother. For all we know, that might be why Hall was not signed. Most of these deals being offered are going to be with incentive sweeteners at this stage of free agency.

Regardless what happens with Robinson I actually wouldn't mind if Carr stayed as long as he took a pay cut.

Sure, but it is hard to get your cake and eat it too when you are trying to lure a player who still has options, although limited. The agency probably stepped in and said, hold on Patrick, let's see how much they really want you and are willing to prove it.

Carr is not the bad guy in this mess. The bad guy is the one who drew up that ridiculous contract in the first place because Rob Ryan was screaming for cornerbacks.

And for not designating him a post June cut once he realized he made the mistake.

All I know is if you don't want the player or even want him to take a cut, it is best to get it out of the way and move on.

They have been sitting on this for too long which suggests they really don't know what they are willing to do.

I feel like they were trying hard for db in case Ramsey didn't fall. I think we go bosa at this point if Ramsey is gone were going defense.

Or your unknowable narrative about how the negotiations went isn't accurate and being under the cap they don't feel the need to make a move right now.

Just because you worry about something doesn't make it imperative.
