So much for that Idiot Morts call on "agreement in principal" Monday -

So much for agreement done deal over a week ago crap. 3 extensions later we are yet again 7 hours away from another deadline........

Here comes another "extension" - this is getting old. I want the owners to tell NFLPA to stick it - and get down to brokering a real deal. I'm sure the players "take it or leave it" offer does not sit well in that owners room right now.

Principle with the NFLPA but not with other owners in regard to revenue sharing....that is the holdup. I wish we could just do a new CBA with the union and that be that with no change in revenue sharing by the owners....why Upshaw wants that pork pushed as well is beyond me.

The entire CBA thing has really tarnished the reputation of Mortensen. It tarnished Florio's as well, but I don't think it's possible to tarnish dog poo.

Instead of trying to "break a story" first, guys like Mortensen should focus on giving an accurate, detailed account of what happens or happened. You've got so many people on the scene to report the story, nobody is going to break a story far ahead of everybody else. Instead, you wind up getting a bunch of "boy that cried wolf" stories and they just look like a bunch of unreliable idiots.

With Jerry's comments and everything I've read so far, I actually think the owners are going to accept the NFLPA's proposal. I think the hold up right now is simply the Revenue Sharing debate. If they get that settled before the deadline, I think you'll see a deal.

Jerry is going to cave because he's a stand-up guy. Unfortunately this whole thing is a bad precedent from a business perspective because it de-incentivizes trying to find any new sources of income.

The players should get 60% of shared revenue plus 25% of each team's "extra" revenue. That would settle everything, instead of a set percentage of all the extra revenue.

Mickey had a Ranch Report about an hour ago from on site at DFW. He said he was optimistic when he got there this morning that a deal would be done, but that the more he talks to people, his feel is that it's 50/50. Says some of the owners just don't want to give in, feeling too much has been offered to the NFLPA already, and they might just stand firm.

I'm leaning towards saying F the NFLPA on this. Since when is their offer final when they're negiotiating with the ones who pay their salary. Upshaw is an idiot for digging in and refusing the negiotiate at all.

If this is going to work, the Upshaw (and Tags) needs to be willing to compromise. No way the owners give them everything they asked for without concession.

The league year needs to get under way, with or without a new CBA. They can negotiate at any time between now and next year.

Exactly - there is still time to finish this later. No reason to give in the the NFLPA demands today. I'd tell them to suck it and move on with this season. Maybe they'd be more willing to negotiate next year.

We're just the small % of football fans that follow the NFL year-round. Collectively, we don't buy enough beer or Viagra for our feelings to matter.

At the moment, what time is FA supposed to start? I'm starting to get confused with all these extensions....

:laugh2: Nice.

From what I've read, if there's no deal (and the "deadline" isn't once again extended) then free agency starts tonight at 12:01 am.

If there is a new CBA, then free agency starts 24 hours later, Friday at 12:01 am.

JJ at the airport gets to go straight to his jet and sign free agent while Snyder cries!

The deal deadline is 8 pm ET.

If no deal is reached, FA begins at 12:01 am ET Thursday.

If a deal is reached, FA begins at 12:02 am ET Friday.
