CBA question

I was hoping someone could clear up my misunderstanding of this quote from Eatman's latest article and other rookie contracts.

The CBA states teams can only sign first-round picks to five-year deals and all other draft picks cannot receive deals longer than four years.

I thought I remember hearing this as well when the CBA stuff came out but there are also rookies getting six year deals. For example...

The Houston Texans have signed North Carolina State defensive end Mario Williams to a six-year, $54 million deal, making him the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft Saturday.

The Cleveland Browns signed first-round pick Kamerion Wimbley to a six-year, $23.7 million deal Saturday.

Can someone that understands explain?

I think the first 15 draft picks can be signed for 6 years; the rest of round 1 for 5 years; and the others for no more than 4. Something like that.

It's the first 16 picks that can sign for six years. You're correct on the rest.

Completely unrelated news.......Wimbley is from my hometown. The local media went crazy when he signed his deal last week. Hard for me to imagine he is getting over twice as much as Carpenter likely will.

Wimbley may put up twice the numbers! I still lay awake at night thinking to myself, what if?

Carp will be a good player but Wimbley may be the best in some time!!!
