1 DENVER - Peyton Manning is rolling, but now comes a tough test against the 49ers. Denver has worked its way back to the top spot. 1(2)

2 SAN DIEGO - Five consecutive victories has the Chargers moving up. They can't play like they did in Oakland and expect to beat good teams, though. 1(3)

3 ARIZONA - With Carson Palmer back playing, they are again a serious playoff contender. They have to deal with a lot of injuries on defense, which is tough. 2(5)

4 DALLAS - Going into Seattle and pushing around the Seahawks was impressive. Where did they find that defense?

1. San Diego Chargers (5-1) HIGH: 1 / LOW: 17
The Chargers found a new way to win—completing a comeback victory over a motivated Raiders team coming off of a bye and a head coaching change. Branden Oliver continued to look like a player that all 32 teams should have thought twice about before passing on in the NFL Draft.

2. Denver Broncos (4-1) HIGH: 1 / LOW: 3
Von Miller’s two sacks and five total pressures played a key role in limiting a somewhat effective Geno Smith. The Broncos offensive line was dominated through the interior for the first time since the Super Bowl. Without generating a legitimate push up front, the Broncos could struggle to escape with a win against a more difficult opponent.

3. Philadelphia Eagles (5-1) HIGH: 3 / LOW: 10
The Eagles finally put together a complete performance in what was a statement victory against a previously clicking Giants team. The special teams continue to make plays, but the offensive line and DC Billy Davis deserve the game ball for this blowout victory.

4. Dallas Cowboys (5-1) HIGH: 4 / LOW: 27
The Cowboys nearly beat themselves with stupid mistakes, but winning a close battle at the end may actually work in their favor. There should be no doubt in anyone’s mind that this is the best offensive line in football after they manhandled a top defensive line on the road.

Don't know why the title was edited. It should be just NFL RANKINGS. NOT CBS NFL.

Not sure why Eagles are #3. But really don't care overall. Just keep winning. That's more important obviously than any rankings.

Arizona and Philly ahead of us after what we just did is blasphemous.

Because they shut out the Giants 27-0. If that score looked any different in the Giants favor say... 20-13 or something like that, we'd be ahead of them no doubt. Not that I think crushing the Giants is anywhere near an accomplishment as winning in Seattle, just pointing out what their logic probably is.

Don't know about blasphemous, but it is funny. Eh, what do I care? I like that people continue to disrespect this bunch, I think it's feeding them. But there is no way Philly or Arizona have a better team. I'm looking forward to the day when they have the chance to show that.

That's a good point that I didn't think about. That being said, we went into the gauntlet that is Seahawks Stadium where nobody wins, not even very good/great teams and came out victorious. Beating them at their style of football with no smoke and mirrors. That deserves a bump over a team that has the luckiest win of the season when the Colts literally handed the Eagles a W.

I'm still trying to figure out Zona. I'm sorry they may have a solid D, but there QB's suck.

Oh absolutely. I think that their fan base is in denial right now 100%, because they don't want to acknowledge that the division that was once a runaway lock is now looking to be taken over by the hapless Cowboys.

That was the toughest run defense they are going to play all year, and they put up over 150 yards on them. The Eagles right now are hemorrhaging yards on the ground per game.

I can live with Arizona....but the Eagirls? That's in sane. Everyone seems to be stuck on the fact they have two offensive linemen hurt......as if the Cowboys don't have key starters hurt. And now Free is hurt....I wonder will they mention that?

Palmer is solid for them. But that makes it even more impressive. 5-1 and Palmer was hurt? Qb's have been poor? Pretty impressive. Compare their roster with the Bronco's who have the same record......

All this hype worries me, there was a ton of hype in 2007 too. Parcells need to start giVing this team pre-game speeches lol DONT EAT THE CHEESE, STAY HUNGRY! !!

Hype doesn't worry me with this team. The coaching staff has them laser focused. Now if they start getting arrested for stupid things then .... wait, what?!?

They're probably going by the division record as well as the overall record and giving Philly the benefit of the doubt for being 2-0 in the division at this point.

The Eagles are 12-2 in their last 14 regular season games.

They look like a 3-3 team at best so far but they just keep winning.

I think it's a combination of last year and what the Eagles did and what we didn't do and the fact they held the Giants to no points. Based on this season, I'd say the Cowboys belong ahead of the Eagles. The Eagles have played pretty spotty at times. But I'm okay with them ranked ahead of us because we have to play them, at which time we'll settle the score.

I can't see the Chargers ahead of us because they beat the Seahawks at home; we whipped them in their house. If I had to rank the top 5, it would be ...

1. Denver - That offense is explosive.
2. Dallas - We're winning the old fashion way but proved, based on last year, we can play shoot 'em up with the Broncos if we need to.
3. San Diego - Yes, they struggled against the Raiders, but that's to be expected in a division game. And they beat the Seahawks, something Denver didn't do.
4. Philadelphia - The Darren Sproles injury may hurt them more than they realize - at least for two weeks.
5. Arizona - Yeah, they have a good defense, but I'm not really impressed with their offense, which may be their undoing down the stretch.
