CBS: Spencer breakout year

I hope you right but he had 3 sacks all last season how that equates into being a beast I'm not sure. I like the pick when we took him and looking forward to seeing him progress but it seems you are overselling a bit if not a lot.:laugh2:

For the sake of the Cowboys I hope all of these guys along the front line have a great season. We need them all and when you can rotate guys in and out and not lose a beat then you have a chance to have a pretty special group.

IMO, that's the biggest problems with this team. With a whiny, insecure "leader" like Ellis, it's no wonder that this team folds every December.

Ellis did not say anything during the season he went out and did his job.

Seems like every year, lately, is going to be the year Ellis losses his job and every year he is putting up better and better numbers. Ellis is a beast right now and Spencer will not be able to beat him out.

Don't think of it as Spencer is getting so and so. Think of it that they are spending X + Y to keep Ellis and Spencer on the field. It doesn't matter who is starting, they are still spening X + Y. Barring injury, Ellis is not getting beat out.

Ellis needs some snaps off and Spencer gives him that but Ellis isn't giving up important in game snaps anytime soon. Spencer ideally gets all the backup OLB snaps and we can give Ware at least a small breather and Ellis a series off here and there.

Or it could be that the players who are universally loved and escape blame have sucked in December. Our high powered offense managed a measly 3 points in the second half.

Greg Ellis had 3 solo tackles which placed him behind only Ware, Henry and Reeves.

I have no problem if Spencer goes out and shows he should be the starter in place of Ellis and have Ellis rotating in and out but Spencer has to go out and produce. As I pointed out earlier all of these guys are important to the success of the defense and if we can rotate guys in and out and lose nothing in terms of production then this group has a chance to really become a great defense.

That is a little exxaggeration... Ellis has consistently performed at below ten sacks ayear and he has never been known as a pass-rushing specialist. He has never eclipsed it witrh the exception of this year. The only year he performed better was when he was in a different system, but he still faded late in the year like he always does. He has always been good at stopping the run.

Spencer will be able to beat him. In fact, it boggles my mind why he never got more playing time. Spencer was playing better than Ellis by the end of the year. Also, the 3 man combo of Spencer, Ellis and Ware gave fits to opposising defense, I have no idea why Wade just shelved it, even though he glowed about it in presence confereneces.

if wade/stew cannot figure out a way to get ware, ellis and spencer all on the field at the same time on passing downs they need to be fired.
