What We Learned: Five issues from Week 13

The Dallas Cowboys watch: If it's December, Wade Phillips should be nervous
What is wrong with this picture: Tony Romo completes a franchise-record 41 passes for nearly 400 yards, Roy Williams catches two touchdown passes and the Dallas Cowboys lose. On an afternoon when Romo put on a career performance, the Cowboys still managed to fall apart, and maybe it's just that time of year.
I mean, Dallas hasn't had a winning December the last seven years and is 5-11 from Dec. 1 on under Romo, so the Cowboys' history is that when the going gets tough they go south. A year ago their December plunge cost them the playoffs. Now, it could cost them the playoffs AND their head coach, with Phillips on notice that his job depends on how the Cowboys finish.
Well, check the schedule: They have, in order, San Diego, New Orleans, Washington and Philadelphia, and there is no margin for error. The Eagles are tied with Dallas for first in the NFC East, with the Giants -- a club that holds the tiebreaker over the Cowboys -- one game behind.
"We don't care about December talk," Romo said after the latest loss. Maybe they should. If they don't get their act together for San Diego, a team on a seven-game roll, they'll have a lot of explaining to do.
