All The Knowledge You'll Need

Here are a couple of players that need to show me more as the Cowboys enter the 3rd week of the preseason.
Evan Oglesby – Everyone was raving about him during camp. He hasn’t done much at all in the first two weeks.
Martellus Bennett – I think it’s fair to say he’s been a disappointment so far. Even before ‘Hard Knocks,’ we knew he lacked motivation. John Garrett is wasting all this time riding him, but Bennett doesn’t seem to care or even want to get better.
Sam Hurd – He’ll get his chance with the injury to Miles Austin. Hurd was talking about ‘makin plays and make money’ during camp. Now is his chance to shine.
Once again, ESPN makes a huge deal out of Terrell Owens saying he could have been utilized better. I think it’s the 81st time they’ve run that story in the last 5 years. I think they should put in a new policy. For comments they distinguish as controversial or negative, they should have to add the question which prompted the answer. If they are going to give the story, give the entire story. (By the way, most great wide receivers think they should have had the ball thrown to them more).
I’m happy the Cowboys are at least looking at adding a young quarterback as the backup. John Beck may be the guy, he may not, but hopefully they’re not going to add another aging, washed up veteran.
Speaking of washed up veterans, I’m already worried about the Mavericks in 2008-09. Devean George (30 years old) just signed a two year deal and Eddie Jones (36 years old) will be returning for his 2nd season in Dallas. Both men averaged 3.7 ppg last season and shot about 37% from the field. At least the Mavs will have a bunch of veteran leadership during Rick Carlisle’s first year.
I really respect Olympians and the dedication and work it takes to perform at such a high level. Having said that, I think Michael Phelps' 8 gold medals are really overrated. There are so many more events in swimming than other sports. If biking motocross (BMX, which is an Olympic sport) had 14 events and some guy won 10 gold medals in one year, would you be impressed? If Olympic basketball broke down skills like dribbling, passing and shooting, someone like Chris Paul would make a run at 5 or 6 medals. In my opinion, Michael Jordan is the greatest Olympian ever. (Followed closely by Carl Lewis (9 gold medals) and Jesse Owens (4 gold medals in 1936).
24 days till Ohio State (+5) invades the Coliseum to take on USC. (10 days till the Buckeyes opener.)
I’m going with Phil Mickelson to win at the Barclays.
